Did you make any comments about recent changes with what appears to be Marriott trying to crack down on rentals? Just curious.
Yes we did. They didn't seem all that phased by it. They said MVC only wants to go after the big guys and that we would never experience that problem.

Please note that if you use this form, you are required to make the following certification, among others:

"Commercial use of Accommodations, Base Exchange Benefits, Base Plus Exchange Benefits, Special Benefits or Use Periods, including a pattern of rental activity, is prohibited under the Abound Exchange Procedures and may result in cancellation of reservations. I certify that this reservation is not for any commercial purpose and release Exchange Company and its affiliates from any and all liability relating to or arising from such reservation cancellation."
Funny that they have that. In two of the last three "owner update (sales) meetings," the MVC rep touted the opportunity to re-rent weeks/reservations as a way to defray maintenance fees. When I first heard this, it infuriated me because I suspect there are owners reserving top properties simply to re-rent ... which means other owners who want to visit those properties are locked out. Full circle ... now I have a Ko Olina 3BR in September I am considering renting.

Now we need to find out who Marriott is targeting with this change. Had a Redweek booking request waiting in e-mail this morning. No issues changing the guest name on the Marriott.com website.

I am assuming this applies to reservations where you initially add a guest already? I sometimes book for family/friends and at the time of booking so their names have always been part of the reservation. I don't understand why I'd need to fill out a "change" form when they are already on the listing? But it seems if I don't fill out the form, they won't be able to check in if I don't join them or join them later in the stay (joining later definitely happens when I book a resort close to home like Newport)???

Does anyone have experience yet with last minute bookings? I also grab Newport sometimes days out when I see unused days, sometimes for me, sometimes again for family/friends, because it can be a really good deal with the last min point discount. I also wonder if I put someone as primary guest, and say that I am not staying, will they get a room placement like a renter vs an owner? I've learned not to use an encore package at Newport as they give you the most run-down, crappy room they have, but when I use my points, I am generally pretty happy with placement. I certainly don't want to send my family to one of those "encore" units!

I don't ever use Newport at the peak times, so I don't think I am someone who abuses the system, and this really seems like a hassle for us small time folks (plus, I don't want my fam harassed for a sales pitch).

I will also say that the renting out points on Vacation Candy has been pitched to me, too! Look how much I could rent out an OF Maui week to cover my MFs!

I saw that, and appreciate your data point. I am still wondering tho since your reservation was in May and the mass email was on Jun 2.

I also really want to know if this will affect room placement!

Took me two days on my most recent ones.
MVC sent confirmation directly to person on the reservation.

He forwarded it to me for my records. I found it interesting that MVC found his Bonvoy account (I didn’t know or provide that information) and attached it to the reservation.

I have a July rental myself (week home resort) that I'm still trying to rent, and it may rent within the 30-day window. If the new policy will limit my ability to add a renter in a timely fashion, I'll be more pissed off. Let's just see how it plays out...

Following up on my earlier post - looks like I may have a renter for this.

At this point we're less than 14 days out. Do folks here recommend changing the name via Bonvoy? Does that still work? Should I even bother with the form?

Since most changes on the form only take a few days, I suspect there is little risk using the form. From past reports, Marriott.com changes still work.

I noticed that the Bonvoy number dropped today, about 24 hours after my request.

Can you clarify what you mean?

I don't see the reservation in "My Trips" anymore on marriott.com.

The reservation still exists (now with Guest's name) but my Bonvoy number is no longer associated with it. You don't always get an email when the name is changed but seeing drop out of "My Trips" is a telltale sign.

I was just about to mention this.

We have a trip planned to Kauai next year and our daughter and son-in-law are traveling with us this time. When booking flights, our SIL inadvertently booked their flights one day early, then could t get the airline to make a change without incurring additional charges. They decided it would be cheaper to get a hotel room for one night.

Rather than have them do that, I was able to book them one night at KBC (we’re staying at Lagoons). When I originally booked it, I changed the names on the booking during the reservation process. I’ve always been able to see the reservation, but at Marriott.com the reservation has never shown under “My Trips”.

I’m pretty certain that MVC has all the information they need as I change it all to the kids names, address and phone numbers during the online reservation process.

Anybody know how to add names to reservations. There is a form somewhere in the MVC system, but can't find it. I'm starting to think I need to do this through Bonvoy but not sure.

Vacation Club has changed the system... you now have to fill out a form and wait several days.

I looked all over the website for the link to the form and finally gave up. So.......

Baloney - Out of frustration, I added the guest's name at Bonvoy on Marriott.com. I called the resort; the resort could see the reservation and guest name as added and said it was fine for check-in. I left my address and contact info as is - this way MVC sales will leave my guest alone. By the way, I do own the week.

Solved and I'm moving on.

You need to go to the list of reservations (Points or Weeks Reservation History) and the link is there.

Is there really any difference between just using the Bonvoy Marriott.com site to put on the guest name vs using the new MVC Abound form? Anyone had their guest refused check-in by having the guest name added just the Marriott.com site?

I am curious on this also.

I just rented a week in 2024 which I did not plan to use. I added my Guest Name to my reservation via Marriott.com like I always do. It took it fine and I now see the guest’s name.

I’m not sure I plan to do anything else, unless someone really confirms the above doesn’t work.

I filled out the goofy and over reaching form on 1 owned week reservation for our Son. I even called owner services 2 weeks in advance to make sure all was in order. The outcome, checkin at Timber Lodge was a disaster.

I added a name through the Bonvoy system for another reservation and it worked just fine.

Could you tell us specifically what went wrong @DRH90277 ? My technique is to change the name in Bonvoy (but not the email or phone #) and once I get the confirmation with the new name I fill out the form. Soon thereafter the reservation disappears from my Bonvoy account. Seems to work fine.

Our son used the reservation and said they couldn't find the reservation. He had the reservation number, etc. I couldn't figure out the problem from what he told me. I called owner services and they didn't expend any effort to find the problem.

I don't like this form and the disclosures, so I put my son's name on the form but used my address, email, and phone number. I don't want the sales department to bother my guests. I do have one suggestion for another question item and that would be something about "whether the guest wants to be contacted for any sales or marketing purpose."

Does anyone have a working link to the Guest Form that doesn't require sign-in to an account?

And does anyone want to help me by testing the "Change Arriving Guest Information" link on an existing reservation in your own account? Mine is linking to this page >>https://ownerservices.marriottvacationclubDOTcom/forms/reservation-name-change-form.html<< (link purposely disabled by me) but the page remains blank without populating.

Thanks!
