Four today.

Dave
Congrats!!! Your second guess is a word that I sometimes use when my opening word bombs. Had I used that word, you and I would likely have been on similar paths to a solution. :D

I needed all 6 today - Happy Monday!
For some reason I kept feeling the urge to try double letters (R, O, C). Oh well, keeping it light, and glad I didn't bomb out.

A fairly unexciting four. After my third word, only one word would fit for my fourth try so things went quickly.

no matter how you dress it up, it's still a 4

Sandi, I’m with you using all six. Hey, you can’t take ‘em with you, so might as well use ‘em.
Although I was firmly seated, comfortably, in my recliner, I opened with STAND. The Wordle gods  at my hypocrisy. I tried RHYME next and only came away with an out of position R. This is not going well. I’m torn between taking a stab using the R and trying five new letters. I decide to see if the R is the last letter and go with a somewhat high-risk word VIGOR (V and G aren’t that common). I added an O but both letters are still out of position. I want to move the O and R to positions 2 and 3. I settle on PROWL which I think would be a great solution. Unfortunately, it isn’t but I do have the R and O home now. Position 4 has to be O or U. I can’t think of any U words so I go with CROOK and discover it is neither an O or U. I need more:coffee:! Okay, letter 4 has to be a C which is a crock. ! No, a FROCK! I’m going to get that :coffee: right now!

Four, including a bum guess. But it could have been Sandi’s fifth guess, for my same ending.

Three today.

They frocked me yesterday, but not two days in a row.

Three.
With no particular one in mind, I opened with TRAMP today. T,A and P all out of position. I checked the remaining vowels with LOUIE and found a rogue O. I couldn’t think of any words that would have the OA combination in positions 2 & 3 or 3 & 4, so I thought the word might start with A. I quickly saw ADOPT and went with it.

I've decided to have a strategy where I win in three everyday. We'll see how it goes.
