Anyone playing wordle?

Took me four this time.

Five. Struggled a lot. Thought my fourth word was the only possibility left, but it wasn't

Four, but I had to really think about it. I kept wanting to put one letter where it didn't belong. Jeez...

Don’t get too cocky or they’ll get you when you least expect it! :D

I also got a three today.
I don’t know why I started with TRASH but it seemed to have good letters and it worked finding the middle A. I decided to check for any remaining vowels next with LOUIE. That found the O in second position and an L that had to be letter 4 or 5. I couldn’t think of any words with L in fifth position, so I focused on xOALx. As soon as I saw the K on my keyboard, I knew it was KOALA.

Me too, even though I got zero yellows and greens on my first try.

A 4 today, nothing special.

Wordle 575 3/6
Tom, if that is your Sunday win, I am impressed. I almost had it in one, but it took five. You will see why.

Two today.

After the first guess, I figured there was a good chance the word was xxIxE. I decided to test that, and started hunting consonants.

S, T, and R are three consonants I usually go for first. I couldn't fit all of them in, but SPIRE gave me two of the three, and P is also a common consonant. So I went with that. As the letters rolled over, green after green after green, the hairs started standing on my nape. I'm sure the Wordle gods were sending me a message.

Three for me.
It is a cold, but CLEAR, morning here. With an A and R out of position, I decided to go shopping for consonants with SMITH. Good choice, finding the starting S and middle I. The only pattern is SxIRE. The only word that works is SPIRE.

I'm happy with my 3 today. Due to lucky 2nd guess, I could only come up with 1 possible answer, but I couldn't quite believe it, so took me awhile before I finally entered it as a guess.

An easy four for me. Glad I did not get into Patri's or Clifffaith's predicament. Those situations can be very frustrating. Like them, I always seem to choose the wrong letter for the one missing one until I exhaust all the possibilities.

A nice quick 3 today.

Five.

Zippo on guess 1. POUTY is a word I often use when ALIEN bombs; the worst it can possibly do is give one vowel, out of position. The gods where chortling as POUTY gave me that least productive outcome possible.

So for guess 3 I need to start focusing on consonants, and I want to see if maybe the word has two Os. BROOM seems like a good word, and finally I get some traction. I resist the temptation to plug in CROSS at guess 4, because if I make a misstep I could bomb out. So I start working out what words would fit a xROxx pattern, and I come up with six. DROSS; CROCK; CROWD; CROSS; FROCK; GROSS. And I'm glad I decided to not make a stab at solving.

So I need an elimination word, and GAWKS looks as if it should thin out the options. GAWKS does narrow my choices down to CROCK and FROCK. I have two guesses left so I'm OK. If I miss on guess 5, I should have it on guess 6. I decide to go with FROCK, and I chose wisely.
