TravelTime, my heart is breaking for you. I know from your posts that you are facing tremendous burden and stress. It is people like you that are going to be hit the hardest from all of this. I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better but anything sounds kind of trivial. I just want you to know that I am praying for you and so many who are facing a larger wall to climb than many of us. Sending you virtual hugs.

Thanks Jan. I am feeling a bit better today. There is not much I can do except wait and see, like everyone else.

We still have Orlando for 5/17-5/31. I hope we can go. I really, really want to go to Disney World for two glorious weeks. I don't even care that it will be hot. I just want to GO.

We also have Kauai for 6/6-6/19. I know those trips are close, but I can honestly tell you, I don't care. Our cruise is not happenin', and our week in Italy isn't happening (4/12-5/2), so I really, really, really, really want Disney World in May. I just DO.
I so hope you get to go.

Our next booked (not cancelled)
vacation is to Marco Island over Xmas week. We have a 3 bedroom and I’m hoping this will all be behind us and we can spend a great week with our kids and 3 grandchildren then.

I assume being you have a three bedroom you will be at the Marriott, great family place especially for the grandkids.

Yes, that’s right Marriott’s Crystal Shores. Thanks we’ve heard great thing about it and my daughter and her two kids were there last year and loved it.

Myrtle Beach planned in May that will likely get canceled. I have higher hopes for our August Panama City trip, but still not holding my breath. I’m praying our cruise doesn’t get canceled in September, but that is going to probably be the biggest question mark. Cruise ships are like giant floating Petri dishes. If we do go, I’m curious as to how many people will be on it. So many people are having to reschedule. On the Carnival cruise Facebook groups, I see more people asking about rescheduling then I do about asking for refunds. Maybe the longer this goes, the more likely people will be afraid to cruise and ask for their money back instead of a future cruise credit. We may book another cruise if I have to cancel Myrtle and Panama City. The rates will probably be great.

The main thing we've cancelled is our daughter's college graduation in May. A whole crowd of friends and family was going to go, so I have four hotel rooms, three round-trips on Amtrak, two dinners for ten people...all booked and all soon to be cancelled. In fact the train itself has been cancelled. The school is stopping just short of saying definitely no graduation, but of course it's looking bad at this point.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
I have a storm chasing tour scheduled for mid May out of OK City . . . I think there's a high probability it will be cancelled by the tour operator. If not, I may have to cancel myself and hope my travel insurance covers it. (I think I have "cancel for any reason" coverage.)

I'm hoping our Great Alaskan RV Trip #4 will still be happening (July 11 - 27). I'm also "hopeful but not very optimistic" my combined pleasure/work trip to Denver & Rocky Mountain NP (June 28-July 7) is still going to happen.

Beyond that, I'm on a travel planning moratorium.

People still think they will be travelling in May is why USA is in trouble.

Come on now, @goaliedave - that is a bit much. No one knows the future with certainty.

People just want to see a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s going to be hard to wait but best to do so.
We have postponed our trip to Sedona and canceled Phoenix and we cannot let a tug member use our week in Ireland this year. Delaying until 2021 .

Listen to the health experts. No one will be travelling in spring or summer. Thinking it is "too much" or "cases are miniscule in my county imo" as another just posted is what is wrong currently in USA.

I am not sure why you have such disdain for the US and Americans. I am sure there are plenty of Canadians hoping to be able to travel by May also.

I think that I will be happy if I am still able to travel when this is over. Where wouldn't be that important.

You know, I am pretty realistic. I cancelled my May trip. It had to be done. That said, I am cautiously optimistic that the efforts that everyone is (hopefully) making will make enough of a difference that summer will be saved. If it isn't I'll cancel those trips too and so will everyone else. Being hopeful or optimistic is not causing anything to be spread. Being irresponsible or selfish is what is causing the spread of the virus.

On a personal note, two of our three kids will most likely lose their jobs soon, my daughter's partner has already lost his job, and my SIL and niece have been laid off too. In our house we haven't been outside since Wednesday (daughter that lives with us is presumed to have it). Neither have any of our neighbors or friends, with the exception of our other daughter who went to the store to shop for us and my mother who is 82 and lives alone. If this quarantine doesn't work, travel will be the least of our worries.

"Cautiously optomistic" is not what Dr. Fauci is saying.

The virus doesn't care about anyone's opinion. Mine or Dr. Fauci. And I get that. But why you need to bag on people trying to be optimistic what I don't get. As long as they are not acting on their optimism it doesn't matter.

You must have seen hundreds of posts and messages from people in USA ignoring science, ignoring advice or continuing to 'hope' things be be alright. Too many in USA are "acting on their optimism" so it matters.

Sadly, many in USA think like you, that what Dr. Fauci says is "opinion".

But you're not talking to them. You're talking to a few people in a thread about travel on a timeshare message board. I'm not going to argue with you anymore.

My point in starting this thread was to spark an optimistic conversation about AFTER this crisis is over. There is plenty of doom and gloom as it is to go around, and nobody knows for sure how this will play out. I expect it will be hard, even bad, but eventually it will be over. Regardless of the current status, causes, or efforts, eventually it will be done. Once life gets back to as normal as it will be then, where would you like to go?

Okay, where I would really like to go (and this doesn't involve travel) after this is over:

The gym
Happy Hour with my friends
Out to restaurants
The local bookstore
To see my friends and neighbors
To our wonderful local spa for a much needed massage

Upthread I said I would be satisfied just to be able to travel. If we can travel, our first priority would be to San Diego to see DG, DD, and DSIL, followed by Houston and Denver to see DS1, DDIL, and DS2.
