Where will you travel AFTER this is over?

I’m hopefully heading to Bonita Springs the last week of June and then VBHC in Naples in December.

I was supposed to go to Pinestead Reef in MI over Memorial Day week but I honestly don’t see this being over by then.

We have a big family union planned for Hawaii the end of June. I'm still holding out hope we can go, I expect the next 2 weeks to give us a better idea. Starting to think of what to do instead or how to reschedule that. We'll see. Mostly looking forward to just getting through this and being able to hug the grandkids again.

I have a NH MA trip planned starting May 29. Only time will tell if that happens. Mid june we have our WV week.

I may try to resurrect my Fiji travel. I am scheduled to go to Fiji on a Tradewinds cruise in May. I got an email that they have canceled trips through June and Air Fiji sent us an email that our flight is canceled and may be rescheduled. As of now, no one is offering refunds so I assume we will need to reschedule within the next year. I have not yet called to get more information since I assume they are busy answering questions about March and April trips. Frankly, I am so down right now that I do not feel like going anywhere when and if this ends. I feel dejected and demotivated and would be happy never to travel again.
I also had to reschedule a May trip on Tradewinds (BVI's). I went online, found a replacement cruise (Nov 2021), held the cabin and called Tradewinds. I got through quickly and they told me how to do the rescheduling process. I wouldn't wait too long. All of the March/April cruise people have been rescheduling, and now the April/May people so the cabins are getting filled. Nov. was not my first choice, but other than hurricane season, it was all that was left.

When our April trip(to Reno, NV) was canceled mid-week last week I started researching Key West. We are restricted to using the airfare before Oct 30. So last Friday I booked air to Fort Lauderdale & hotel in Key west. 5 nights in KW and final night in Ft Lauderdale to catch a mid-morning flight home. The more I look at KW, I don't think 5 nights will be enough, but it will have to do.

Hoping everything is calmed down by then since I invited some friends to join us. Granted their airfare will be good through March 13 next year if we have to cancel, so that's good. Hotel is cancelable, so is car rental.

Planning on an afternoon SCUBA, butterfly conservancy, Dry Tortugas, Hemingway's house, Truman's southern White House. So much to see, only 5 days!

Like someone else mentioned glad we got one trip in already. We returned from St John on March 6.

5 days in key west will be enough to be able to enjoy.

Why are people accepting credit? My parents had a trip today but decided not to go before. Air Canada have then a credit but give it a few weeks when it is easy to call and I will request a cash refund. I myself booked with miles for May and September so al sol for a cash refund.
Say what? None of this really makes any sense.

I have an Eastern Caribbean cruise Thanksgiving week followed by a week at Oceana Palms. Hope it happens, I'll need a vacation by then

The liquor store...

That's about right. I feel the need to drown my sorrows but we are in self-imposed isolation at home right now.

We had a mid-April trip planned to the Hyatt Highlands Inn in Carmel, CA. That was followed by a week in the Lake Tahoe area and a few days in Death Valley (before it gets too hot to visit) on the loop back to home. I've been hoping to trade into Highlands Inn for many years and it was just this year that I finally lucked out and was able to grab a 1BR there with a Marriott studio. I was excited. What a great trade! I did my homework prepping for that trip, but now it has all gone bust. Canceled all our arrangements earlier this week.

We were also hoping to go to Oregon this summer or early fall and waiting to see if our OGS matched. Well, never mind. Canceled that idea as well.

I've still got an AC trade into Palm Desert (DSV1) in late September (it'll be hot...), and then we've got back to back weeks in Palm Desert (DSV2) followed by Newport Coast (NCV) in late October to early November. Those resorts are within easy driving distance. We'll see how the nation is doing with the virus later in the year and if those trips are even possible.

We too have a Hawaii trip scheduled- albeit a month earlier than yours. Have not yet canceled but with this week's developments in Hawaii I am getting very close to canceling.
Maybe Hawaii at Christmas???

Nice thread Dave ! It makes me want to do some trips.

Haven't canceled anything yet. Waikiki New Years is a might go. Yellowknife is a go if Canada lets us in, lol. I need to make some reservations for Mexico. I have a SFX week that will likely expire this June.

We are going to be at our Chinook Pass place alot more is what it looks like. Heading up there with a bunch of Jeeps Sunday. I like no tv stations, no phone service unless I walk up the hill, no internet, no people except the ones I like, fires by the river, fishing the upper lakes, hiking and just doing nothing in particular. In the evenings I like to listen to Coast to Coast AM on the old radio and watch for UFO's or listen for Big Foot while having some beers .

Take me with you! ;)

We have six days in Monterrey in August and a week in Carlsbad in October. And half a dozen Pismo Beach reservations (we hoard Pismo), two of which are full weeks in June and September. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I don't think we'll reschedule AZ & New Mexico from early May until later in the year. Haven't felt like dealing with Diamond Resorts yet to cancel, although I believe cancellation won't be an issue. As soon as we come home from Carlsbad we are Transitioning those contracts anyway, and I don't care if I lose points.

Still hoping I can get to Molokai the first two weeks of May. Otherwise, hopefully I only have to move it a little.

I'm in Vancouver and Whistler BC currently, its all great here, no panic, life is normal, golf course was fulltoday, lots of meat in grocery stores (photo is from 2 hours ago). But no USA tourists will be allowed in Canada or any other country until fall.

We have postponed a proposed trip to Vancouver for August. We will wait and see how things are in July, but not optimistic.

We currently have two booked trips. One is at the HGVC Plantation Beach Club in Florida for the first part of December. The second is a condo rental in St. Martin in the Caribbean in January/February 2021. Both can be cancelled or rebooked with 30 to 60 days' notice at no charge, so we hope those will be OK by then.

If the pandemic has not settled down by the fall, we will cancel. Travel is nice, but a "want", not a "need". Not worth endangering either health or life.

After this is over, i will travel the same places. I use my ts for Canada's winter 6 months in southern USA sun with a million other Canadian snowbirds.

I may go elsewhere if things haven't resolved in USA by November. One reason it is good to own a ts instead of a second (winter) home like many Canadians.

Just a word of warning in case you are not already aware. If you are truly spending 6 months of every calendar year in the USA, you are technically considered a US resident for tax purposes and are subject to US income taxes. It is called the "Substantial Presence Test". Many Canadian snowbirds are not aware of this until the IRS comes knocking on their door or they get pulled over at the border and denied entry.

While as a Canadian you can stay in the USA up to 6 months on any given visit, if you spend more than 4 months cumulatively each and every year, then after 3 years you will have met the Substantial Presence Test calculation. If so, you must file a "Closer Connection" (to Canada) form 8840 to be exempt from US tax under the Canada/US Tax Treaty. If you fail to file the 8840 on time, then you lose the exemption and can potentially be subject to double taxation.
