I'm thinking I'll just want to visit drive to locations. The one place I'd like to fly to is Vancouver, but it sounds like they don't want me to visit.
National parks, state parks and Disneyland are the only places I can see myself visiting for the next couple years. Even those are just a big maybe depending on if we can keep our business open.

We still have a reservation for the last cruise out of Vancouver late this summer, 15 days. It does inside passage, Seattle, Oregon, then disembark in San Diego. We were really looking forwarding to spending a few days prior in Vancouver, flying to Seattle and taking Amtrack into Canada. I have until June to cancel, only have a deposit, looks very unlikely we will make the trip.

We will probably look for a Thanksgiving week somewhere driveable from the west coast.

Trying to create some positive energy, and think about something good, rather than dwelling on the news events currently happening. With that in mind:

Presuming you've had or will have to change or cancel your plans due to Covid-19, I'm wondering where you'll want to go after this is over? Will you try and resurrect your cancelled plans, or go someplace new, or ? My guess is everything travel-related is going to be inundated with travelers, so it may be difficult to make that perfect match. Will you stay at your timeshare's home resort, or try to exchange out to someplace else? Will you take a cruise? Will you fly or drive there? Will you do anything differently than you have in past trips?

We still have a major Hawaii trip planned for late August, which i'm hoping we can still do. Failing that, we're looking at New York City, Key West and the Caribbean, or maybe someplace totally new. Zuatenejo, Mexico, has been on my list for a long time. Maybe it'll be time to finally book that trip.

How about you? What do you envision as your Post-Covid-19 travels? Think of it as your "anti-virus" vacation. :D

Dave
Our plan this year: we have to postpone Niagara-Toronto in May , but hopefully in September we can travel to Seattle and spend some time at the Olympic National Park( we want to camp around) , and later to Phoenix , AZ ( resort), to see if it's a good place to retire..that's our plan , hopefully this pandemic will end soon and most people go through on with no major problems! Best of luck to everyone!

TravelTime, my heart is breaking for you. I know from your posts that you are facing tremendous burden and stress. It is people like you that are going to be hit the hardest from all of this. I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better but anything sounds kind of trivial. I just want you to know that I am praying for you and so many who are facing a larger wall to climb than many of us. Sending you virtual hugs.

I may try to resurrect my Fiji travel. I am scheduled to go to Fiji on a Tradewinds cruise in May. I got an email that they have canceled trips through June and Air Fiji sent us an email that our flight is canceled and may be rescheduled. As of now, no one is offering refunds so I assume we will need to reschedule within the next year. I have not yet called to get more information since I assume they are busy answering questions about March and April trips. Frankly, I am so down right now that I do not feel like going anywhere when and if this ends. I feel dejected and demotivated and would be happy never to travel again.

My wife & I had already planned a week's stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek in October 2020 for two things: the Lockheed Martin Air & Space show and a first time visit to Disney World (yes you heard that right -- we've never been to Disney before). I am fairly confident that this thing will have long since blown over by then -- regardless, our trip is something in the moderate future that gives us a ray of light during this whole mess.

I hope you get to make your Disney trip. We have one planned then, too. If you aren’t aware, that is during the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot and this is the 25th anniversary. It is a fantastic experience if you like to eat and try different cuisines. We’ve been a few times and always enjoy it.

Currently we're scheduled to go to Denver, CO and Utah National Parks piggybacking on my daughter's chorus going to the Sing a Mile High festival in mid June. I am doubtful that will happen. Other than the fees we have already paid her chorus for the trip, everything is cancellable (points for air travel on Southwest, Marriott Hotels, and IHG Hotels). If the Denver trip is cancelled but it is safe to travel, I have a backup reservation for Myrtle Beach, SC for the same timeframe, which we can drive to. Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head Island have always been happy places for our family and my wife's entire extended family though this trip is just planned for us.

Frankly, I expect both will probably wind up getting cancelled. Nevertheless, I find it a good stress reliever to plan trips. My wife and I are thinking this should be a driving year for vacation rather than flying. We also like to camp. So next fallback would probably be either Myrtle Beach later in the summer or camping at Shenandoah National Park. Beyond that we would be constrained by the school schedule.

Longer term, we have a hankering to go back to Hawaii. Over the past 20+ years we have been their a half a dozen times or so. We always really love it. Since we live in the Eastern US it is a very long haul for us to get there. Financially it is also a big outlay. My daughter will graduate high school in four years. If we don't manage to get there before then, maybe we will do it as part of her graduation present the summer before she goes to college.

We have a lot of travel planned for this year. Much more than normal. However, I will gladly trade all my trips for things to go back to normal.

Joe

Trips Planned:

Cruise from 5/24 - 5/31 from NJ. This was for our 25th wedding anniversary on May 20. I can't imagine we will be on this cruise at this point.

Trip to Charlotte 6/24 - 6/28. Visiting SIL, already bought airfiare. Not sure if this is happening.

Trip to San Fransisco, CA 7/28 - 8/3. My newphew is getting married. I dont think this will happen. Luckily have not bought airfair or hotel.

Combo Vacation - 8/22 - 9/6. A week in Branson and a week cruise from FL. We have booked the cruise, rental a TS for Branson and booked some of the airfare. I really hope this happens!

I would also like to take a cruise or a vacation for Thanksgiving week.

I canceled my trip to Sedona and Scottsdale. HICV refunded my points.

I do have a trip in June to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. Looking forward to that and Hope I can go!

Planing a day trip to Moab soon. Probably lots of short trips to remote areas and parks during this time.

Do not plan on going to NYC or LA anytime soon :)

Thanks for the advice -- No we weren't aware of that festival! We'll already be down there and, since I do like to eat and drink, it would be a shame to miss out -- so we'll include that on our itinerary, too!

Still scheduled for Oahu in early July, but canceled Boston & Quebec for May. Also, canceled Williamsburg and North Carolina for September. We're in the vulnerable age group. My young (relatively speaking) daughter and her family are still trying to get refunds for her canceled trip to Italy for April 4th. She booked everything through Expedia and they're not answering their phones due to "technical difficulty". Any suggestions for contacting Expedia?

I am an opera nut and was scheduled for Wagner's Ring in Chicago in April (four operas). They cancelled and I was able to cancel all hotel reservations. Southwest usually just credits you back your funds usable till a year from when you make the reservation. They just announced that all credits will be good until June, 2021. Great news as I have two other roundtrips scheduled on SW. Call me Candide, but I am still optimistic about a late May - early June - plans to meet my sil and brother in New Bern and go on to Charleston for the Spoleto Festival. Then opera in San Francisco mid-June and music and opera in Santa Fe and Aspen in August. Some airbnb and some timeshare. Will any of that happen? Wow. Hopefully opera in San Francisco in November? One is a rental from a BlueGreen owner in Charleston. I'll be anxious to see what happens with that if it gets cancelled. With any luck we'll be able to transfer it to the following year's Spoleto Festival in Charleston.

On another note, I am dumbfounded by how many cancellations I've had for events in Los Angeles. It is true and right that we should be worried about the impact on all the small businesses and restaurants, but I surely hope there will be help for the artists and musicians who have lost their meager paying jobs in this business due to cancellations or postponements. And of course, the big question is: If this peters out due to warm weather, will it come roaring back again next fall and have an even longer period to wreck its havoc? Life will certainl change after that if it does!!!!

We will begin flying trips starting late 2021 to Maui because we have an EOY Odd. In summer 2022 Portugal and possibly Spain has been our our bucket list. If all clear we will try for a ski trip to the Rockies in winter 2021.

My first trip will be to reschedule a visit to my sister in Phoenix that we had planned for last week. She's 80 and not in great health so want to see her as soon as it's safe. Also expect my week In Florida in mid May with a group of high school friends will get pushed back, so that will likely be the second one. Hopefully, we'll be in SXM in early 2021 for at least a week. But we've also committed to doing daycare for about 18 months for our grand daughter due in early April, so that will crimp our travel for a while!

We were fortunate to spend a couple weeks in Maui already this year, but we also have a couple weeks in St. Thomas at the beginning of May. My husband doesn’t want me to cancel, but I have a feeling we will have to reschedule the trip. I just won’t do it until St. Thomas shuts down so he will blame the USVI govt..lol. And I’m not in a rush to reschedule, since right now we have no way of knowing how far out to plan anyway.

I’m not worried about using the timeshares credits on short notice, because living in Florida we could always just go to Orlando for a week, ( and not do any parks...), but I’m not sure how much usage we will get out of the airfare credit since they don’t refund the airfare, and the credit is short dated since we buy our airfares early.

Oh well. After 25 years of timesharing, I can say we have been lucky. We have never had to cancel for any reason. Twice we have arrived days after a hurricane, and last year SXM was a disappointment post Irma, but really we have been so lucky. I guess it’s our turn.

I’m hopefully heading to Bonita Springs the last week of June and then VBHC in Naples in December.

I was supposed to go to Pinestead Reef in MI over Memorial Day week but I honestly don’t see this being over by then.
Hopefully Pinestead reef/Traverse City will be safe enough by memorial day weekend. We are planning to go to our lake cottage at Higgins lake about 50 miles from there So here's hoping we both can still go. :)

I’m going to grab onto that hope and dream of both of us being able to go up north

We're supposed to go to Toronto and Stratford in late July/early August. I don't know if we will make it...it's hard to imagine that things will be back to normal.

Meanwhile, we had a trip to Williamsburg, Virginia, planned for April and for the first time I bought airfare to get there from Newark. Now of course I will be canceling, but I don't want credit bc there's nowhere we want to go before November, when the credit will expire. I guess I'll get the credit and then try to persuade them to give me a refund or extend the credit later.

We were looking at maybe visiting London at Xmas. If anyone wants to go, the airfares are very low, as you might expect.

We still have Orlando for 5/17-5/31. I hope we can go. I really, really want to go to Disney World for two glorious weeks. I don't even care that it will be hot. I just want to GO.

We also have Kauai for 6/6-6/19. I know those trips are close, but I can honestly tell you, I don't care. Our cruise is not happenin', and our week in Italy isn't happening (4/12-5/2), so I really, really, really, really want Disney World in May. I just DO.

My first trip will be to visit family and friends in NY and NJ. The timeshares can wait.

I have Key west in November and Marco Island in December planned. Will really enjoy going. It will have new meaning not to take for granted.

Our next booked (not cancelled)
vacation is to Marco Island over Xmas week. We have a 3 bedroom and I’m hoping this will all be behind us and we can spend a great week with our kids and 3 grandchildren then.
