Marriott Vacation Club Destinations
We currently have 2000 points with the Marriott Vacation Club Destinations program that we want to sell. We are hoping that there are suggestions from this forum of reputable brokers that can be suggested. We have been on the "waitlist" with Marriott's Resale Department since March 2016 and as of today, we were informed there are owners that have been on this list since 2010 and it would be a very long time before our position comes up.

Can we ask, please!, for any trust-worthy brokers who can discuss our options?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to mention that the Marriott Resale Department only recommended the Licensed Timeshare Resale Brokers Association to handle our selling needs but I feel somewhat hesitant to use them as I feel this original transaction was for Marriott's benefit only and with their recommendation, I can't help but feel it would be again, to their benefit!

There is a website run by two Tuggers: www.vacationpointexchange.com

You can post your points there and I bet they'll be sold within a few weeks if you price them reasonably.

You'll have to figure how to price them but I would guess $5.00 per point would get them sold.

Best of luck!

.

I am pretty sure that Marriott "wait list" to resell points is bogus and only intended to temporarily pacify owners wanting out. Marriott has no need to sell someone else's points when they have plenty of their own to sell and all points are the same.

Unfortunately, I believe this to be true.

You can also post a for sale ad on TUG in the Marketplace, as well as on redweek.com. Redweek requires a membership and ad fee. If you price them right, you may well find a buyer.

Good luck.

Mike

1. Remember when pricing your points to sell that Marriott will add basically $2 per point to 'allow' the purchaser to use the points (called an 'enrollment' or some other such fee and expressed as an amount per BI - i.e. per 250pts) it comes out to $2/Pt.

2. www.rofr.ner is a site maintained by a TUGger which has confirmed prices paid for weeks and points, it may help to set price expectations to see actual prices confirmed paid by others.

Good luck in unloading these. I'm not aware of anyone ever having 'resold' these through Marriott and I think this would have been a very important item of news on the Marriott board here if it had ever happened.

For what it's worth, LTRBA is a group of brokers in various geographic locations who charge their commission only upon sale; no upfront fees. Marriott would derive no benefit whatsoever if you chose to use a LTRBA member broker to try to sell your "product". I think it's to Marriott's credit that they even steered you in that direction, quite frankly.

That being said, I have no idea of the value of whatever points product it is that you own within Marriott, nor do I have any idea what (if any) demand for it may exist in the open market. Marriott experts here on TUG would surely know better.

Pay $15 for a TUG membership and list them in the TUG Marketplace. You should be able to find a buyer over time. Certainly don't expect to get anywhere close to what you paid for them. Expect a 50-60% haircut.
