Depositing Craig Lodges and other HGVC weeks into DEX

Thanks! It's Lake Cottages at Cwm Chwefru near Builth Wells (in Wales)

Ahh, the resort name comes up when searched (!) yet the system is telling me "No availability found for criteria selected. Minimum 7 days required" when of course I am using 7 days in my search. The owner of the resort told me they had plenty of availability in May 2026 but she couldn't help me make a timeshare reservation, only DEX can do that. Arrrgh! Pulling my hair out now. ;-)

Looking. In the UK, I see 3,588 weeks between now and August 2027 but nothing if I just put in Wales

I think that I found the property but no availability

sometimes, you have to try different names for it but I only see one for Cwm Chwefru

Also, tried Builth Wells but no availability. It is in the list though since you can only choose from the list and can just search by any random name.

I would call CS tomorrow and ask them. They aren't coming up in the system.

In the DEX guide, this is all there is but there are many partner properties that aren't in the guide.

Yep, got those same properties in my search which, if I counted correctly, there were only three properties for "UK."
Thanks so much, you went way beyond the call! Speaking of, guess my only option at this point is to call member services and hope someone actually answers. Cheers!

yes, call and maybe they can see something that we can't

Shaking my head at how they can have many properties that aren't in the guide. How in the world does one find them?

that is why I often search by continent. You find many in Europe that aren't in the guide.

And CS has told me that the inventory changes daily...if not even hourly....so keep checking back

We booked on for Bangkok that isn't in the guide. Anantara is in various places but this one isn't listed in the guide...so you just have to search different ways

Didn't we just do that? I'm so confused!

yes and found your property, that doesn't show up in the broader search since there is no availability but it does show up when you search by the specific name...just no availability. Maybe CS can sort it out though.

OK, I see, broadened the scope to all of Europe. Doesn't help me for my UK trip but good to know for the future. :)

As a Newbie, can I ask: does availability depend upon owners depositing their points/weeks elsewhere? So if nobody at this Welsh resort has done that, that may explain why there's no availability showing up?
Thanks again for all your help! :)

well, in a Europe search it includes the UK...no BREXIT in DEX...:)

14,335 weeks available in Europe between now and August 2027

and you have properties like this that aren't mentioned in the guide

yes, owners there would have had to deposit in DEX

the good part about Europe though is that they tend to be lower tiers....I think 5 is the highest that I have seen but most are 2 to 4.

DEX also provides access to over 4500 RCI properties that are not listed in the DEX guide (which primarily lists the HVC/Diamond properties and a very small number of HGVC properties enrolled in DEX). If you are enrolled in DEX EU via one of the HGVC properties, you have access to a premium subset of RCI directly via HGVC and access to all RCI properties via DEX.

US DEX members don't have that same access? I'm a Bay Club (Hawaii) owner.

never heard that before, interesting.

it's possible those properties have a mix of DEX units, along with other inventory. and only the units in DEX, that an owner deposits, would create any availability for exchange.

I think RCI access is the same for US DEX and DEX EU, but DEX EU has fees in Euro while US DEX has slightly different fees in US$. Also DEX EU is limited to weekly exchanges only (not sure about US DEX for owners of US HGVC affiliates), unlike regular DEX (for HVC/Diamond properties) which allows shorter stays or stays that are not multiples of 7 days.

One oddity is that DEX EU (and probably US DEX) HGVC affiliates have access to DEX exchanges up to 2 years ahead of check-in date, while HVC/Diamond affiliates have access only up to 13 months ahead of check-in dates. Conversely I assume there are two buckets of weeks available in DEX (for HVC/Diamond resorts), first those weeks deposited by HVC/Diamond owners that are only available 13 months ahead of check-in dates and other weeks deposited by HVC developer owned (unsold) weeks or HGVC affiliates (owners or developer) that can be deposited up 2 years ahead of check-in. There is a similar issue for HGVC owners (not DEX affiliated) that can deposit their weeks in RCI up to 12 months ahead of check-in, but HGVC developer owned weeks show up 2 years ahead of check-in in RCI !

I am mystified why HGVC developer owned weeks end up in RCI or DEX : What does HGVC/HVC get out of trading the weeks they own for other weeks in RCI or DEX ? Wouldn't HGVC/HVC be better off just renting the weeks they own on Hilton.com (which they also do, BTW) ?

There are 4 versions of DEX. DEX EU, DEX US points, DEX US weeks which is like DRX EU for DRI deed owners, and DEX Embarc points

All four guides, from last year, are in that DEX post that I started last summer about DEX

Does DEX eu charge both a deposit fee and an exchange fee? I was trying to figure that out. How much is it assuming no tier upgrades to deposit and exchange? Looks like I will be doing this pretty soon. Also what is your top 5 of the best resorts worldwide in DEX for exchanging right now?

I have an undecided international trip coming up and open to all ideas

No. Only an exchange fee/upgrade and no fee to enroll. All the fees are in the guide.

CL doesn't require yearly dues to join DEX, but some (many) ownerships do.
