Depositing Craig Lodges and other HGVC weeks into DEX

I wonder if DeX exchanges are treated as home week reservations. When I exchanged my Craig week with II for a week at Tahoe I was treated as an owner and got free valet parking and no resort fees were charged. This was at the Marriott Timber Lodge so not DRI.

That would be nice. We will know soon enough, we go to Cabo Azul later this month

Excited to hear the results. If you don’t have to pay the resort fees then it seems to be a better deal than RCI.

Looks like this resort doesn’t charge resort fees. I don’t own MVC. In fact, I wasn’t even aware I was treated as an owner until check-out when I went to pay for the valet service and was told it was free.

I just noticed that they list pounds and euros for the upgrade fee. When I paid the upgrade for our Cabo fee, they charged me in pounds, £340 but it also shows €370....€370 is less dollars than from pounds. Today, £340 is $435 but €370 is $403......so.....I wonder if we can request to pay in Euros?

How much inventory is there in DEX for the Beachwoods in beach season or how hard is it to book if you are looking for it 9 months to a year in advance?

That is interesting. They have a bunch of summer beach inventory available to rent but not exchange into. So they are figuring out how to play the RCI and II game.

I just did a search between now and August and none show up....for exchange but they have them for cash...interesting.

Does the Embarc Sandestin have weeks for rent? (If it has much, they must have found a way to repurpose it since there is little developer inventory.)

No Embarc are in the list. It is a set list of properties. I am not sure if the list is dynamic based on current cash options or a static list and this is all you get. We will see with time.

Embarc cash weeks (before 14 days to check-in) are developer weeks. They rent them out to pay for their annual fee obligations. 6% is about 250,000 points so while it may seem they don't have much inventory it's plenty for their "rental" business.

The price on this page is the daily rate. When you "book it", it multiples that daily rate times the number of days plus tax.

Well, new update. Now when you get to the select your account page, after you log in, the Craig contracts are listed there separately. When you click on one, it take you to the normal HGV portal in the ownership page and you have the option to book DEX directly through the HGVC portal versus the DEX portal.

I think so....I think you can enroll and then use the cash rate but we would need to hear from others who have enrolled and not deposit. I know, at least one person, who deposited but that function still doesn't work for them.

We used one of our bonus weeks (tier 4) to exchange for a Cabo Azul (tier 6 because it is a 2 bed OV). Had to pay the exchange fee and the upgrade fee but still pretty cheap for a week in a 2 bed OV. We were curious if we would have to pay the resort fees, like RCI, but nope. No resort fee.

The check in sheet that we signed showed us as owners using Destination Exchange.

Really liking the DEX EU option.

No. They are only week long reservations unless you do the cash deals and then you can pick the number of nights

As mentioned before, cash is developer inventory for timeshares. Member/owner inventory is in the exchanges.

I have heard from a few other people who have gone through this process and it sounds like each person who contacts DEX EU to enroll, confuses them. You would think, by now, everyone there would be aware of the process.

The one consistent response by DEX EU CS, when you first call, is that you don't have a DEX membership number and they can't find you. Of course, because you need to enroll and they will create it from your HGVC membership number.

So, if you can them for the first time. Tell them that you want to enroll and that you own in HGVC at Craig Lodges but you don't have a DEX membership number yet.

just closed on the Craig lodge and my 2024 and 2025 points are posted to my HGVC account. Do I need to call and have them convert my 2026 to points or will that happen every year automatically?
