Could just try phoning them to ask, if the phone lines are not working then maybe the resort is closed as well.

I just read on a NC news page that I-40 between Knoxville and Ashville could be closed for a year. That is really going to impact a lot of folks, especially truckers. It is a long detour around if wanting to stay on an interstate, although in our experience US highways are very similar (4 lane divided with large grass/tree median) to interstates.

Why would there be restrictions when the Resort canceled on you?

According to the t&c's of Marriott Club Points, cancellations within 60 days result in the points being returned but to a Holding Account with restricted reservation rules.

Having had cancellations as a result of past hurricanes and COVID, I know that Marriott may choose to be more lenient than the rules state but I'm not getting my hopes up. We'll see what happens when I talk to them. Whatever the case, my problem is the least of what this storm delivered.

Lehigh Resort Club in Lehigh Acres, FL reports no damage. Debris cleanup is complete.

I live about 15 minutes frow the Lehigh Resort. They indeed should be pretty ok. They aren't near any major bodies of water nor rivers i believe. Plus unless you were near a place that would've gotten storm surge, most of us inlanders were spared.

What company are they offered through again?
I've seen that place for YEARS and kinda just thought....

Just called to check on Club Chalet at Gatlinburg (my daughter owns there) and was told they had no issues whatsoever. All employees, all chalets, and the office building are fine.

Saw this photo on a FB group. This is the entrance gate to The Biltmore Estate. Arrow is pointing to high water mark from last week. Page said the estate is fine but most access roads to and around it are impassable so its closed until at least Oct.15th.

It seems Fox Run in Lake Lure had a lot of damage and will be closed for a while. Here’s the email I received today:

Hurricane Helene Update​

Dear Owners, We hope this message finds you safe and well. As you are likely aware, your resort and the surrounding area was greatly impacted by Hurricane Helene. Access to the area continues to be limited to emergency responders and essential supply deliveries. We are in communication with our team members, and happy to report that all employees are accounted for and safe. At present, the resort is closed to allow the staff and Capital Vacations management teams, to conduct a thorough assessment of the property and begin the restoration process. The situation remains fluid, and we appreciate your patience while we work through restoration protocols, including insurance claims, and await word from local authorities as to when it may be safe to return to the area. It's more complicated than the article states.
FAA placed flight restrictions yesterday on Asheville & other W NC airports. I was monitoring closely on X. Numerous, perhaps all private flights for rescue/bringing supplies to victims weren't being allowed to take off.
Musk tweeted after Helicopter flight bringing Starlink to remote location denied to land. Buttigieg responded, but it took a private call between Buttigieg & Musk to resolve the issue. The flight rules were changed to allow the public to access Asheville airport from 11pm - 11am.
If the media did its job this would be known.
