The reports that are only just beginning to come out of some of the most rural areas inland are horrific. All good thoughts being sent. If anybody has any info about specific, valid fundraising efforts, please feel free to drop it here.

On a personal note, we were excited to be traveling next week to one of our bucket list locations, Asheville, NC. Our loss doesn't in any way come near to that of the people living there but we feel a connection of sorts. :(

Is there a running list of resorts impacted?

Should we start one?

We are so grateful to everyone who kept our TradeWinds Family in their thoughts during Hurricane Helene. Our resort will remain closed until October 25, as we work diligently to repair and restore the property.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and we sincerely apologize. We will keep you updated with any further information as it becomes available.

I'm so impressed with the team at Vanderbilt Beach and Harbor Club, they got right to work and started clearing all of the sand off the newly rebuilt pool on the gulfside, it had only been open a few weeks prior to Helene coming thru...They have the umbrellas up today and folks are sitting on the deck...

I'm confident that substantial federal and state aid will be provided. Most people aren't well covered for flood damage, especially in areas that seldom flood. I hope they can recover quickly.

I have a couple weeks at Fox Run near Lake Lure and one week at Cameron Cove Resort in Indian Rocks Beach near Clearwater. It sounds like Fox Run most likely made it through okay but is inaccessible with all the roads washed out. I haven’t heard anything about Cameron Cove Resort, but have a feeling it made it through okay because the whole building is elevated and doesn’t start until the second floor. The ground floor is open. If the storm surge was high enough, it might have affected the second floor. My unit is on the second floor on the oceanfront. I’m sure the swimming pool outside on the ground is filled with sand and the bottom ground area has all been washed through.

It is horrible to hear about all the destruction from Helene in the Southeast. I live in Tidewater Virginia and the rain stayed just to the west.

My aunt owns at Grand Shores West which I thought she said was in Largo Florida but looks to be North Redington Beach. Apparently they had significant storm surge and the property was partially underwater and may not reopen for a while. Her fixed week is 48, so she probably won't be going this year. I've requested to join their Facebook group to see if I can find out some details.

Someone from Canada posted on bluegreen site that they were marooned at Fox Run. About 80% of the replies blasted them for not leaving early. It would not have occurred to me that North Carolina would get devastated from the hurricane in the gulf.
I'm from Henderson NC Which is in the Piedmont so neither High nor Low lands, i'm quite used to Hurricanes messing us up pretty badly because its all just farming land, kinda terribly perfect in a bad way for flooding and tornados and all kinds of bad weather events :(

I remember Hurricane Bertha and Fran as being 2 major ones from my childhood.

There's also so many little ponds and lakes that can easily take on too much water too quickly.
