Years ago we enjoyed a timeshare stay near Lake Lure NC and went to Chimney Rock a couple of times during the week. As a result of the rain from hurricane Helene there has been brutal flooding. Here is a before and after photo of Chimney Rock.

Hi, No, sorry, our last name doesn't start with G. I think our daughter was in her last or 2nd last year of high school when we visited so that was almost 20 years ago.

I will own as long as I can. So far after twenty one years, and many hurricanes my special assessments have never been over $350. My insurance has been under $2000. My property tax is low. No state income tax. My worst year, I spent under 1000 on damage.
I am in a mandatory evacuation zone. I have a northern home. I save enough on state income tax to cover all the second home expenses. And I enjoy myself

That may have been Hurricane Ike in September 2008? I remember losing power then as the storm maintained a strong windfield when it went over southwest Ohio.

We dropped our daughter off for college that day in the Cbus area... the drive home was terrifying! 23N was a standstill, so I had the very unwise idea to cut over and use 315. Trees were coming down left and right, we had to get out and move several trees out of the road, drive through yards, all to end up back on23N further south than we started. It took almost 2.5 hours to drive to Delaware, and the Mcdonalds sign was down across the highway there. Not your typical fall day in Ohio!
