Anyone playing wordle?

Three. A little bit of guesswork on that entry, but there were not many words that would fit at that point.

straightforward three today

Guess 2 is just putting the A and E in different (and common) locations, while checking for S, T, and a third common consonant.

Bringing up the rear with a five. Too many choices and I kept making the wrong one.
There is a FIERY ball in the sky almost blinding me this morning. But, it was good for an E. Since my DW and DD are out of town, I moved the E to the end and tried ALONE. That got the L and E in position and added an A. Unless the word was ALGAE, which I thought of trying, I was pretty sure the A had to follow the L. I thought of BLAME, BLAZE, GLAZE and SLATE without even trying. I briefly tried to think of an elimination word but thought it might take two so I just started guessing. BLAME? Nothing. SLATE? Got the T. I hadn’t even thought of PLATE but when I looked at my keyboard, the P was the only letter that would work.

Along with @Rolltydr bringing up the rear with a five. Only needed two letters after my second entry, but it took me three tries to come up with the correct word. (Four tries if you count the word that I had on line #2.)

4 for me. I purposely went with the more uncommon words and letters today
After yesterday's answer, I wasn't going for the obvious :D
Like @Rolltydr , WATER was on my mind this morning cause of my city's current water problem . Not a bad guess to give 3 letters.
I was being a bit perverse with OVATE, but I wasn't putting anything past the WORDLE Gods! Finally I settled down to earth with the obvious PLATE. Yesterday I followed my gut with THUMB, today I didn't, and got burned both times :wall::LOL:

Two! Ruined my winning streak a couple of days ago with that one word that had too many first letter choices! Always exciting to get the word just on the second try but I'm not yet finished with my first cup of coffee... now what do i do??

Two for me as well. :cheer:
And I'm also on a winning streak of two again. I didn't finish when it was DWELT (fell asleep waiting for inspiration) and I bombed out on HOUND (I would have had it in 7).
Hopefully all that nonsense is over.

Have you tried Quordle? The can kill a few minutes.

Try Spelling Bee ( spellbee.org ). It kicks both our butts all day, every day. Nothing like seeing that 300+ points are possible when one has 50 points and has been playing on and off all day. Quite humbling!

ETA Today’s puzzle would be a great one to try. So many words available, and you can stick that “S” at the end of anything that will take it!

My husband plays Waffle, which is a 2D square Jumble-like in which you have to make 6 words ( 3 across and 3 down) by moving the given letters in 20 moves. You do have to figure out the words tho' cause the letters are not all in alignment. His best 'score' is 5 remaining moves.

I've added the WA Post (aka LA Times) daily & Mini-Meta crosswords to my game playing routine.

A fast 4 today, even with a lot of choices.

Three
Second guess was my usual option when AIDER returns only an out-of-position A. It took me awhile to come up with options after guess 2. After working through remaining letters one by one, I narrowed my options to BYLAW, YACHT, and KAYAK. Out of those three, either KAYAK or YACHT was the best option, because if guess 3 wasn't correct, it would simultaneously rule out one of the remaining words. Since my watercraft of choice is much more likely to be a KAYAK than a YACHT, I went with KAYAK.

What Sandi said! A five and proud to get it after a horrible start.
I was just trying to think of a new word to start this morning and came up with TIMER. I need to think harder tomorrow. After that fiasco, I tried DOUGH. Sheesh! Two words, four vowels and six pretty common consonant! And nothing? C’mon! Okay, so it has to have an A and a Y is a good possibility. I’ve actually thought of using BYLAW several times recently and this seems like a good time. Finally! The A in position and the Y out of. I want to get the Y at the end and also think there may be two A’s. Being a good Tugger, the first word I think of is VACAY, although I’m not sure it’s actually a word. The gods allow it and the A’s are correct but the Y isn’t. I can’t think of any words starting with Y but when I put the Y in the middle position, KAYAK becomes obvious.
