Whoa, Got it on 3 today!
Could easily have been 4.

I had r/o the 'r' so it wasn't 'raise'.
Good thing I didn't think of 'waive'.
All that I could come up with was maize.

An unremarkable 5 today.

After guess 3, three options; BEECH; BEEFY; WEEDY.

Four today. Must of been half asleep in that I did not move the only correct letter (but misplaced) from my first two words until the fourth try. Bonehead!

The strangest four I’ve ever had. But I’ll take it.
Instead of water fowl, I started with HORSE and got an out of position E. Then, I tried PLANT and got nothing, I wanted to try U and I, possibly Y next but was having trouble pairing them with available consonants. I finally went with QUICK. Zilch! I search my available options for a few minutes and I finally decide to try 2 E’s and the Y. I have 2 options. BEEFY or WEEDY. I really don’t like either but decide to try BEEFY. Unbeleefable!

I also got it in 5.

Only one letter after three guesses, so I took a wild stab at it, and got little new on the fourth guess. I sat there and tried every remaining letter, looking for a letter combination that sounded like a real word. Finally hit on it. Duh... Have I mentioned I suck at this game? LOL! :D

Four

Straightforward today. POUTY is my usual guess 2 when there aren't any hits with ALIEN.

The xOxxY pattern has lots of solutions, many of which are xOOxY. So for guess 3 I was looking for a word that had an O in position 3, with as many unused consonants as possible in other locations. SWORD completed the puzzle. The W needed to be in position 1, so I needed to complete WOxRY.

3 for me today.
A lazy 3 at that. I was going to look for that MIT starter word and give it a whirl and decided, nah, tomorrow maybe. So went with my usual and then didn't think any more than I had to. A little luck and laziness paid off this morning.

I was afraid it was going nowhere. But relived with a 4 in the end.

Wordle 587 4/6

⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜
⬜⬜⬜⬜
⬜⬜⬜

I just noticed Mr Oglodyte and myself had a very similar beginning (Struck out on same first word, then test vowels next)

Patri -you know it couldn’t be a word with two of the same letters you kept using ? you would have both green (or yellow) if the word had two.

I’ll proudly join the group of fours.
I was looking out at my PATIO this morning and realized it has been awhile since I started by searching for vowels so I gave it a try. An out of position O. I went with ROUND next and got the O in correct position and found an R. I then wanted to check for the E and tried HORSE, getting the R correct and being left with xORxx. WORRY was the first word I thought of but I briefly tried to think of others. My wife and daughter always tell me I worry too much. I worried that if I tried it, it would be wrong. And, I worried that if I didn’t try it, it would be the solution. I couldn’t think of anything better so I finally entered WORRY and now I’m not worried any more!

The fours have it today. no letters on my first entry and only one after two. That is not necessarily the worst thing in that your options for a correct word slim down as you eliminate a lot of letters.
