Five
After the third guess, I figured the word most likely was xATED. FUDGE checked for while also testing for GATED and GATED. When I missed on all three of F, G, and D, I had to think. The only remaining letter that could fill position 5 was Y, so the word would xATEY. I puzzled a bit; I wasn't sure that MATEY was a Wordle answer, but I couldn't see anything else that worked.

A five for me (another brain fart - that's 2 days in a row (oops).
Not sure what I was thinking there on word 4. I think because I was going to say MATED for word 3 and my thought was darn, should have gone with my 1st thought.
Thankful today we have 6 tries :)

I‘m not sure what my transgression was, but the Wordle gods rained shame down on me today. I crapped out!:confused:
Maybe I started out wrong using a word that is usually defined as a negative. However, STEAL got me 3 letters. I had identified AGATE as a possibility earlier this week but didn’t use it. When I thought of it this morning, I thought it’s a sign from the gods. I’m sure they’re still laughing. Next, I see TEACH and think, okay, a subtle clue that they’re teaching me a lesson. I didn’t notice the brain fart with the A. Uproarious laughter, I’m sure. After 3 tries, I think I have nailed down the pattern to xATEx. I overthink it a little and wonder if the word has 2 E’s. I try EATEN. Nope, WATER. Nope. MATED, FATED & DATED are my possibilities, since I’m not considering Y as the last letter. I try MATED and the gods howl with laughter at the thought that I ever could have. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Four. I was fairly stumped after my second word as what could fit with the remaining letters. I thought my third try was an inspiration. Nope. Ended up with what I consider a more obscure word on the fourth entry.

Isn't it "funny" when you don't get a single hit when your standard 2nd try didn't get one if your standard start wasn't a go like it was Saturday--they were all such frequently used letters!

Well I don't know if "funny" is the word that comes to mind. On the positive side, think of all the letters you've eliminated.

Whew , got it in 5.
I thought of the 2nd syllable, but initially discarded it cause the answer seemed more improbable...it is a kinda slang, isn't it ?

Not only slangy, but more often associated with non-US dialects. And Wordle, particularly under NY Times curation, steers clear of words that aren't common US English, and doesn't use non-US spellings for words (though it will usually allow guesses in other forms, such as METRE or LITRE).

That was what threw me off. I initially discarded today's word as a solution, coming back to it only when it was the only option I could see.

Four
When I ran through my options after guess 2, I came up with FLUME, PLUME, ELUDE, and FLUKE. FLUME looked like a good options for guess 3, because if it wasn't correct, then it would show which of the others might be correct. So, if the Wordle gods thought they had me in their grasp after guess 2, I eluded them.

My initial thought for the spoiler was to say I "eluded" the Wordle gods, but I didn't want anyone to think I was giving away the answer. So I went with "evaded" instead.

I barely recovered from my shameful defeat of yesterday, scratching and clawing my way to a five.
It is a very WINDY morning here in northeast Florida. Hmm, a D in positron 4. I file it away and search for some common letters with CREAM. I get an E out of position. Since I’ve already eliminated Y, I assume the E is the ending letter but I need more. I decide to try 5 new letters with GHOST and quickly eliminate those 5 letters. So, I’m down to a second E and/or U as a vowel. I try the pattern xxUDE and immediately think it should be EXUDE. But, the X doesn’t turn green. I look at my keyboard and see the L and quickly check to see if anything fits. Nothing does, so after 10 misses, 6 yesterday and 4 today, I finally ELUDE defeat.

Another person checking in with a four. I started by celebrating the low life with my first two words. That put me in pretty good shape, but it took me two tries to nail down the final answer.

This was a hard 4 for me.
All the words I was coming up with for 4th guess had a letter I had already ruled out.

I can honestly say this one eluded me for a long while for last guess. I was laboriously going thru the known letter patterns. I put 'U' as first letter, but didn't follow thru and try 'E'..

Earlier I thought it was EXUDE, a likely unusual WORDLE word. But I had already r/o the 'X'. I couldn't see the forest for the trees in this one.
