An unexpected 3 today, after my underwhelming starter word.
Followed my gut today :D

After my 2nd guess, the only 2 letter
consonant combo for word beginning
had to contain an S, so possible words
SWINE and SPINE
SWINE was just calling out to me...
In hindsight, SNIDE fit too, glad
I didn't think of it.

You know those mornings when you solve Wordle quickly But you’re still irritated because the answer should have been the word you tried right before you solved it? Yeah, this is one of those. I got a three.
My daughter had lasik surgery yesterday and has a followup appt this morning which made me think LASER. Excellent! The A and E in correct positions, plus an R. I can work with this. It’s either RAxEx or xAREx. I can’t think of any words for the latter that isn’t simply adding a D or S to make it plural or past tense. So, RAVEN just jumped out at me. What? Are you freaking kidding me? RAMEN? Quoth the RAVEN, “NEVERMORE”!

Four. I thought that I had some great answers on lines two and three given what was known. Turned out to be something more obscure.

My luck holds with a 3!
It helps a lot to get 2 correct letters in my starter. I see my 2nd to last guess was the same as many of you.

Out of RAVEN, RAMEN and RARER, I went with the more unusual V letter. RAMEN is quirkier, not original American English, but in the American vernacular and pop culture. It was my runner-up.

Four. And a few minutes!
I wanted to use PT in my starter and I went with ERUPT. Maybe not a good idea, only uncovering a P out of position. I decided to try the P in first position and went with PLAID. That aded and I with both letters still out of position. With most of the top row of my keyboard out of play, I noticed the Y was still there and could be the last letter, so I tried SPICY. Finally, S and I in place and the P has to be at the end, SxIxP. A quick scan of the keyboard and nothing jumps out. A slower scan and, finally, SKIMP. Sheesh!
