I got a pretty quick three this morning.
We’re having a new AC system installed today so we can be nice and COMFY this summer. An O out of position. Not feeling too comfy about that. PILOT seemed like a good choice of vowels and consonants, as well as moving the O, to find some additional letters. It was, indeed. The LO in correct position and the I almost certainly had to be first, leaving me with IxLOx. Yep, my house will probably feel like an IGLOO if DD gets to the thermostat. BRRRRR.

My luck continues with a 3.

This was solved only with vowels.
Like the JUMBLE word puzzles, most of us
are inclined to think of words beginning with consonants first, vowels last.
By the 3rd guess the pattern fortunately showed the "I" most likely in the first position. I couldn't think of anything else with the I & O in their respective positions.

A ho-hum four.
I didn’t sleep well last night so I’m TIRED. That got me E and R, both out of position. Going to the other end of the spectrum, I tried FRESH. That got the E correctly placed but not the R. I wanted to try a word ending ERY but I was a little leery of trying LEERY. I did it anyway and got the R right as well as adding a L. I couldn’t think of any words ending ERL so I was looking at xLERx. CLERK was the first word I thought of and I went with it.

I first thought of the answer for my 3rd guess.
But went with the double E WHEEL instead, oh well.
