FWIW - one reason why I started using AIDER as my typical starter word is because xxxER words are the most difficult because there are so many words that end in ER. Remember how many flame outs there were when the Wordle word was PARER?

So I decided that I want to know right away if the solution is an ER word, so I can start working through the options. In today's puzzle, even knowing the word was xxDER after guess 1, it seemed there were still too many choices to start going through them one-by-one.
Interesting. One of my first thoughts this morning was that I can’t use ORDER as my starter word again because it won’t be the wordle answer again. If/when AIDER is the wordle, would you still use it as your starter? I never expected to solve it on my first try but one of the reasons I like to play is just to see if I can match minds with the creator on that day. I know we’ve discussed our different reasons for playing and strategies, but just wondered if that would make any difference to you.

When/if that happens, I'll be tickled with having solved the puzzle on my first guess, and then I'll have to decide whether I want to select another opening word or alter my opening word strategy.

Four

One of those words that I solve by process of elimination. With all of the letters eliminated in guesses 1 thru 3, QUALM was the only remaining word I could come up with.

5 for me as well.
I shouldn't have guessed my 4th, even tho it is a word. I should know that Wordle wouldn't use obscure body parts :sneaky:

I thought of QUAL- for my 4th guess, but just couldn't come up with the last letter.

After I entered my poor 2nd guess, I thought of MURAL, which would have certainly given me the answer in 3,. too bad...

My streak of one is over! (sigh) Four.
I went to the doctor yesterday and, apparently, the cause of my high blood pressure was anxiety as everything else checked out okay. So, I need to RELAX (which Wordle and other word games help somewhat). Anyway, I found an A and L both out of position. With E out of the picture and A out of fourth position, I thought both letters most likely fit in positions 1-3. I settled on CLAIM and it was very productive, getting th A and M in there correct positions. However, I was briefly perplexed with the L now needing to go either in first or fourth position. I couldn’t think of anything starting with an L. After a minute, I thought of PSALM and decided to go with it. Nope. Reviewing my remaining letters again, I finally saw QUALM. Good challenge this morning.

That seems to be a problem we all have at times. Some of us (raises hand) more than others.

I’m a dunce. Six. Yeeesh! Got an early appointment so not my usual post, just the ugly results.
With guesses 4 and 5 I was just looking for letters.

4 for me too. I liked my 3rd guess better :)

I was in doubt of the answer...thought it was a brand name. Weird word.
In my ruminations I came up with AORTA. Now that would be a good Wordle word.
