Spoiler: Gave the Wordle gods an appetizer today, but no main course

After guess 2, my choices appeared to be MINTY and NINTH. I went with MINTY, and I was mildly aggravated when that wasn't correct. But not too upset because I was sure I would have it with the next guess.

Now, if NINTH had also been wrong, then the Wordle gods would have had a feast. But NINTH was right, so all they got from me was just a little snack. About like getting only one bite off the tip of a slice of a nice Neapolitan pizza. Just enough to start the juices, but no real satisfaction.

I’m watching a HERON walk around the lake this morning. An H and an N both out of position. I THINK I want to try TH to start the word and N in 4th or 5th position and THINK is actually a good choice. THIN all out of position. Hmm, looks like NINTH works. What else? Nothing comes to mind immediately so NINTH it is. My first three in a while.

4 for me. After guess 2, I had 4 possible options, so used a throwaway 3rd guess to r/o 3 of the 4. However the first word of the 4 to pop in my head was the correct answer, but I wasn't confident enough to gamble on it.

My 4 possibles were NINTH, FIFTH, DITCH and PITCH. ( And just now realized WITCH!)
I had already r/o SIXTH and TENTH. If I had used one of the 4 for 3rd guess, I still could have taken up to 5 guesses to get answer.
So luckily FINCH came to mind which contained 3 key possible letters.

My favorite U2 song, ‘PRIDE’, was in my head this morning and I realized I’ve never used it as my starter. So, I did and got the ending E and out of position P. Instead of banking those and trying five new letters, I decided to move the P and look for another vowel or two while maybe taking a long-shot guess. I used TAUPE and added an A and narrowed the options for the P. I saw SPACE and APPLE as my options. I’m so glad I didn’t see AMPLE until I read Sandi’s post or I would have used it. I typed APPLE first, then erased it and typed SPACE, then erased it and typed APPLE again. Finally, I hit enter and the APPLE turned green.

Four today. I actually had put the correct word in on my third try, but I thought that that word had been used recently (apparently not so) so I put another possible word in instead. C'est la vie.
