Anyone playing wordle?

I came up with what I thought was an interesting starter word, SCANT. It worked pretty well getting S and C out of position. Next, I tried MUSIC but all that did was eliminate 3 more letters. I had to try the remaining vowels O and E with my third guess. I decided to pocket the S and C to go with 5 new letters. I settled on PROBE ane it was a good decision, finding RO as the second and third letters. This meant the C was the first letter and the S was either fourth or fifth, CROSx or CROxS. OH, wait, it can be both. CROSS!

Still doesn't make up for yesterday. I know that I am being "crank(y)" (second word) but how many words can you "cramp" (third word) into five spaces all starting with the same three letters. As a result I "crash(ed)" (fourth word) and burned. I wanted to "crawl" (fifth word) into a hole. What a "crazy" (fifth and last try) game. ( All told, I managed to find ten wrong letters that could be use to complete the first three letters without one of those letters being correct.)

I feel your pain. That has always been my complaint about Wordle. If there was a subject or clue, even a puzzle title for the day, it would give you some idea of what they wanted. But to have legitimate guess after guess and have it always be wrong is just agonizing, and tends to take a lot of the fun out of it.

As for me, today I got it in about ten seconds. I'll take the Four.

Five for me today. I don't think I was in danger of bombing out. Just more of a roundabout way of getting to the answer.

On guess 4 I knew I was reusing an eliminated letter, L. But for purposes of honing in on the answer, I wanted a word with S, C, and W. And SCOWL gave me what I needed to arrive at the answer.

I do not believe in them, but I started with GHOST today and it worked out pretty well with the O in the middle and an S. I wanted to try S in the first position since Wordle doesn’t normally use plurals. SCORE confirmed the S and also C in position 2. So, I’m looking at SCOxx. I come up with SCOWL, SCOLD and SCOOP. I try to think of an elimination word that might help but I can’t. I prioritize my guesses and try SCOWL first. Nope. Next up is SCOLD and, fortunately, that was it.

It took me five today but I took a couple of shots at solving instead of using an elimination word earlier.

I started with SPURT (one of my kittens was having a spurt of activity) and found the S and R. I decided to take a shot instead of holding those and searching for more letters. After trying SNARL and SWORD to no avail, it was time to search. I used CHIME as I thought the second letter was likely C, H or M and it covered the remaining vowels. Jackpot! SHIRx. Only the K works and I’m sure the gods are SMIRKing at me for actually thinking I could solve it in 2 or 3.
