might have to start hosing some TUG zoom gatherings!

We had a delightful zoom visit with our grandkids and watched them playing on their new trampoline in their backyard this afternoon. Then our small group from church had our first zoom meeting tonight. It was great to get to visit & pray with our friends and go over our Bible study questions.

We brought our Bible study group up to speed quickly in the last few weeks and are now using it. Also using it for board meetings for our community chorale.

The downside to zoom is I have to look fairly decent when I walk around the house. For the past week when I walk past the giant computer monitor I can see my kids’ teachers and all their classmates. And of course they can see me.

Zoom is great.

seems the prices on camera/mic combos for streaming has gone up quite a bit! have to swing by best buy or local store to pick one up and try it out.

If your computer has a webcam, you can just use that with the built in mic.

yea, im not terribly concerned with someone leaking my ugly mug to the masses....i wouldnt (nor expect anyone else) to use it for anything other than a social or fun experience. Heck if someone wants to share our timeshare chats to the world, it would probably be a good thing!

my desktop doesnt have any video capability, i see built in video/mics for 20 bucks...they are just all sold out eveywhere. to date my video chatting is limited to phones and tablets!

we will see what we can put together! dont have to wait for me if some of you want to start one up though!

We have been using Zoom with family members who don't have Facebook and so far it is working well. Our oldest DS is the only one in the whole family with an iPhone so we use cant facetime. DH's 88 yr old mom thinks Zoom just marvellous and now wants her own tablet so she doesn't need to use her DD's (who is living with her while the pandemic is ongoing). A friend of mine teaches piano and has set up Zoom with several of her students to continue lessons. Her DH adjusted a music stand beside the piano to hold her tablet at an angle so her students can see her and her hands on the keyboard of the piano.
I just hope that this type of 'visiting' doesn't become a habit, especially with the younger family members, after this pandemic is over. You can't beat the in person contact.

I talked with Brian about this, though not sure if he will be able to participate given the webcam procurement issues. I am thinking I can set up a livestream event on my YouTube channel. I can bring up to six people in on video (though perhaps better to keep it to three or four) and everyone else can participate in Live Chat through YouTube. I subscribe to several channels that do livestream events all the time. Thinking sometime this weekend and would be looking for some participants. I will create a new thread in the TUG Lounge with details.

i do video meetings all the time for work. Now that i am working home i wanted an external camera so i can use my big monitor. It cost me $280 to finds one in stock... Its 4K and really nice but more than i had hoped to spend. Fortunately my company covered most of the cost.

My employer moved to Office 365 and Microsoft Teams about a year back. For me, it was a slow adoption curve (old habits are hard to break). Now that we are all working from home, I am SOOOOO glad we have Teams now. Communicating and continuing w/project work is so much easier with Teams than without.

yea i was shocked to find most all computer video cameras are sold out online and in local stores!

Yes, with so many people suddenly working from home.. everyone rushed out to buy accessories to build out their home office.. I had a hard time finding a large monitor in stock, but did manage to find that a few weeks ago.

We can't figure out how to get to the gallery view using the website.
DW uses a Windows laptop and can't find a setting that puts everyone up.
Any clues?

The statement didn't indicate 95 out of 100 is the minimum for passing!

I bet you weren't good at those math word problems! ;)

I think he's a teacher -- different grading scales.

Zoom stock is highly recommended by a major investment advisor.
