Hello,

Is anyone else experiencing problems with the Wyndham website...? I log on, see availability, click on "book" and then I get the spinning wheel for minutes and minutes...nothing happens...

I was having a similar problem just a month ago and that was "supposedly" because of my hybrid (developer + resale) account. It got fixed for a very short time and now this...

It is unbelievable that Wyndham can have such a shitty website in this day and age...I never experience this kind of problem with other websites...and I have given Wyndham thousands of dollars over the past many years...I am supposedly a VIP, but I sure don't feel like it...

I look forward to hearing from others who may be experiencing the same situation.

Cheers!

I logged in and made a reservation between 6-6:30 ET this morning. I didn’t have any problems then.

Can you book anything? I see that happen if I try to book what I think is 'ghost inventory'. It's only gotten worse in the past few months. Are you possibly trying to book something that might have come available overnight and got booked by someone pretty quickly, but now it still shows available when it isn't? The VC's seem to have a decent idea if it's ghost inventory or an issue, you might try calling them? Sorry, I completely understand and feel your pain.

As Sandi said, the ghost inventory issue has been something we've repeatedly reported to Wyndham over the past several months, and we know some type of code fix is scheduled for the December sprint release (subject to change of course). Crossing our fingers and toes that this reported issue will be resolved - but I'm not going to hold my breath that all use cases surrounding ghost inventory will be resolved in one update. Depending on the device type/web browser you're using - you'll either get the spinning circle of death or a "something unexpected has just happened" response when attempting to book ghost inventory.

I tried again this morning for a mid-week, off-season stay and I still get the spinning wheel of death so I don't think it is ghost inventory...if anyone is willing to run a side-by-side test with me, please send me a PM.

Cheers!

If you can provide the resort and the date range (and any other search criteria) that you're using - we can easily attempt to reproduce your reported issue. Have you tried clearing your browser cache, and have you tried performing this same availability search on another device/browser?

While speaking about "phantom inventory", on the other end of the spectrum, have you ever addressed the issue with them, or gotten a non-BS response about the issue of "No availability at certain resorts for months at a time" and then magically it all shows back up?

This, to me is even more infuriating. This should be addressed ASAP. It's been happening for over a year, first reported in fall of 2021 at Bonnet Creek, but has gotten much worse in the past year.

There are entire resorts seemingly unbookable for large stretches when there is 100% definitely available inventory to book.

Yes, we have reported this on multiple instances in the past and this is not a website issue. It’s not a technology issue - it’s a back end inventory holdback type issue of some kind and is outside of the scope of work for the website DT team that I typically deal with for reported issues. I have attempted to seek answers elsewhere through other non-IT channels and never received any substantive guidance. I’m happy to attempt to do so again - however we will need explicit examples to provide.

This is hardly a conclusive list, but here goes:

Fairfield Sapphire Valley - no availability 12/22/22-2/1/23. This resort going back to August had zero availability showing middle of September until 2/1. Not one single day, but magically recently 12/1-12-22 opened back up.

Fairfield Harbor (New Bern) - no availability 12/22/22-1/30/2024. This resort going back to August had zero availability showing for the entire calendar period as far as it would go. Not one single day, but magically recently 12/10-12-22 opened back up. Note that 12/22 date...

Ocean Ridge (Edisto) - Last week was showing zero availability 1/1/23 to 5/30/23, but the other day, this magically fixed itself. Working fine today.

Previously I reported that ALL the Panhandle Florida resorts (PCB/Destin) had no availability from 1/1/23 to 4/7/23, that too got fixed. Again... magic.

Has anyone got the waitlist to work? I did in the beginning, but it doesn’t for me now.

I have re-reported the issue of large blocks of inventory being blocked out using the impacted inventory per above - if anyone has additional examples they can provide - please do so - it'll bolster our case this time around hopefully.

This has been going on since the Voyager website in May 2017. It's because the system now looks at the inventory differently. If you didn't own prior to that you wouldn't know about how the system used to look at the inventory and about split reservations.

For instance before we moved to Florida we used to go to Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach in May and some years again in September or October. The two bedroom units in Tower 3 closest to the ocean end of the building have excellent views. I knew the unit numbers so would call in and ask the rep what was available in units ending in xx or xy. They'd tell me and I'd have them book the unit I wanted and note do not move on the reservation or reservations for stays longer than a week. Now the resorts assign all the units and some resorts are notorious for ignoring requests for a specific unit.

When you see several months grayed out it typically happens when the resort needs to reconcile their inventory. For resorts with two bedroom lock off units it's absolutely necessary and likely needs to be done more frequently that at other resorts.

Bonnet Creek frequently has a building down for updates. Also for the past two? years they were and still are dealing with a major structural issue.

In my response to Wyndham on this topic I reference that that are valid instances where large blocks of inventory aren’t available - the most obvious is when renovations are in progress such as at Bonnet Creek when entire buildings are blocked out as you said. I included a recommendation for a central page that only owners can check that would list out these events - that way we could at least have an awareness when major renovations or reconciliations are in process that negatively impact available inventory. Communication is key for any customer obsessed company these days.

This is what I came here to TUG to check on. I tried yesterday then again today, no luck. I get a message about unable to reach the server and to try in a few minutes. No luck after minutes, hours, and now days.

Just me?

Dashboard searches find more stuff than using the monthly calendar.
Monthly calendar wonkier than ever, sometimes can't pick an end date.
Ongoing - if you spin when you return to the current month, click off and on accessible, it stops the spinning. Still, if you don't find what you are looking for in the monthly calendar, try a dashboard search.

The struggle continues.

Some of these issues should resolve once the December website sprint release occurs next week. The outages earlier this week were for back end changes - not website changes. I realize this isn’t explained in the outage window notifications which can be misleading, hence the repeated requests for public facing release notes documentation on an ongoing basis.

Thanks for the information, I was thinking those outages were for the fixes. Good to know there's still some hope.

All I want for Christmas ...

Have you tried a different browser?

Anyone else? (Full disclosure - I was commenting in the wrong timeshare system about an issue someone was seeing - since I took the time to add some detail to my issues, I'll post my comments here). These are some things, I've long ago started living with and don't comment on anymore. Are they on a list of regression issues/bugs, anyone know?

I see 'funkiness' around midnight - forever I have. I chalk it up, perhaps to the time zone difference. I am central time and their system is eastern time. From 11pm central time to midnight, for any resort, everything for the current month, from the current day to the end of the month, will be bolded as though available - it's a totally inaccurate representation of availability (even worse than the normal quirks we see regardless of what time it is). I can peck through and find things that might be available, but it's painful, and I mostly try to avoid the system at that time.

Super frustrating overall - when you cannot book something - and yet, someone is. More times than I can count, I'll try to book and spin (that blue wheel of death) or get something unexpected happened. So you think it's a system issue - and yet - eventually the rooms are no longer available so someone somewhere is booking rooms. And of course it's likely when the call center is closed so you can't call and ask for their help.

Filtering by room type has not worked for me for months.

Happy FriYay!

If you can provide us with exactly what you're trying to book - we can validate whether there's an issue or if it's simply a matter of a lack of availability. Are you getting an error for example? Such as "something unexpected just happened" type error? Happy to help in any way that we can here...

First issue is getting past the 2FA-

Pretty much trying to see Atlanta ( any 2 nights in May ) or Sedona ( late September/October 4 + nights)

As soon as I hit the calendar I was getting something unexpected happened…Yet no problem booking Grand Desert. ( I have questions about that too but for another thread )

The filtering by room type has been reported by me repeatedly over the past few months without a doubt - I have an open thread with the DT team at Wyndham on this item. It may be resolved in the December release - we shall see after next week. If not - I'll keep pecking at it as this has caused me some personal heartache as I often look far out for four bedroom units for booking. I can still do it but I have to manually check date ranges and then see if there's a four bedroom available which can be time consuming compared to simply choosing to see only four bedroom unit availability. I've noticed what I think is the same core issue with the Modify function for existing reservations - it shows availability but when you actually select the dates to extend - the dreaded "something unexpected just happened" error shows. I then back out and perform an availability search for those same dates - and while I do see availability - it's not for the room type I had in my existing reservation - so my theory is that even for the Modify function - the room size selection also isn't working - just like what we see in the monthly availability calendar for example. This is speculation on my part to be clear. Either way - I've got a thread open on this item and won't close it out until we see resolution.

On the issue of what happens right around midnight - I don't typically search for availability at that time - but off the top of my head - my best guess is that there are back end processes that run at the start of each day - now both inside and outside of the discount window - due to the new waitlist function was recently implemented - so I suspect we'll see this occur around midnight because automated processes are running. Best guess - the first thing that process does when it starts running - is put a soft hold on all matching inventory it finds - and then it will only release it once that process has completed. I don't think it's a someone in other words - I think it's a something - a process. Inside the discount window it's going to be the VIP auto-upgrade process. Outside of the discount window it's going to be the waitlist process. Again, this is just an educated guess on my part to be clear. I submit this issue to Wyndham and see if we can some confirmation.

Ok so i do a lot of my searching around around that time period- it’s the only quiet time in my house :)
Is this background type stuff - possibly why I keep getting issues?
