Specific Rescission Scenario

My husband and I attended a very intense presentation in Panama City on May 31st. Needless to say after being held for 6 hours (with our kids) and not truly realizing what we were involved in we purchased $64,000 contract points with a bonus $64,000 for $12,500. Overnight the night of the 31st I immediately regretted the purchase and went online. I found rescission information here at Tug BBS (thank God) and on June 2nd from the Panama City post office sent 3 certified rescission letters with read receipts. My rescission letter included both of our signatures, our return address, contract number, contract dates, and our expressed wish to cancel via our legal rescission period in Florida (which is 10 days). I sent the letter to both the PO box and physical address specified in our contract as well as to the quality assurance manager we signed with at the Panama City office. I am now seeing that some people sent a copy of their contract along with their rescission letter. Have I made a mistake in not doing this? Should I resend all of the rescission letters?

As long as you sent it to the Las Vegas address via certified mail. I would track that one and print it off ounce it's been delivered. There is a rescission letter with your contract. That's what people are talking about sending not the contract.

You could follow up and verify that your contract is being rescinded a couple of days after your rescission letter is received. Ask for email confirmation if you follow up.

You might receive a phone call trying to sweeten the deal if you will not rescind. If you don't recognize the # calling you it's best not to answer it for a few days.

Welcome to TUG . Congratulations on saving $12,500

What is the best way to follow up? I wanted to email but can't find an email in any of my paperwork. All they gave me were hotline numbers.

We did the same thing you did in Panama City. We did not send the contract, just our letter saying we wanted to rescind. That letter just included our names, address, contract number, etc. We had no problems and the rescission was handled quickly, within 2 to 3 weeks.

At this point track your package. Once you see they have received it you know all is well. I don't know that I would even waste my time on the phone with them (we didn't) making sure they got everything. You'll get a letter stating they received your rescission letter, and then at about the 21 day mark you'll see all your money refunded. If you don't get the letter by day 14 (from when they received the letter), that's when you might want to make some phone calls.

The phone numbers they gave you are best. But be patient at this point, otherwise you'll add to the 6 hours you've wasted wasting more time on the phone.

The rescission process works because it is legal....but they are going to only do what is required of them, and that includes taking 21 days (from the day they receive your letter) to refund your money.

I believe under state law you should have received a page with rescission info and address in with the documents after the purchase. If they failed to provide you with that info that says a lot about the sales weasel, sales manager and Wyndham in general. And sales weasels wonder why we call the 'sales weasels'.

I did receive that info and mailed certified letters to both of the addresses listed on it. I had just seen on other threads where some people had included a copy of that page with their rescission letters and I did not send that with my letter. I simply sent a letter with our names, address, contract number, both signatures and wish to rescind. The tracking says they should receive the letters in Las Vegas on Monday so here's hoping!
