[May '08 Thread] wanted weeks.com anybody heard of them?

Thanks, Debbie, for checking! I was starting to think we needed to make another drive. I also had another TUG friend, besides Kurt, that could check for us, too.

UPS Store

I found a UPS store at this location, that provides mail box service.

I imagine Wanted Weeks may have a private mail box at the UPS store.

The address is 300 center drive, superior, colorado.

This may solve the question about a vacant lot.

Wanted Weeks

Apparently, Wanted Weeks is using a private mail box via the UPS store in Superior, Colorado at 300 Center Drive.

This gives them a legal address from which to do business.

I will keep you posted on my Resort on Cocoa Beach biennial week that I won on Ebay.

So far, I have received prompt email replies to any questions.

I recalled the need for a PMB desgnation but it would appear that went awat

Mail Box Renters Fight USPS - Government Activity
Home Office Computing, April, 2001 by Victoria Hall SmithE-mail Print Link If you work from home, you may know that in the spring of 1999 the U.S. Postal Service decided to scrutinize small businesses who use private mailboxes at locations Like Mail Boxes Etc. and PostalAnnex+. The USPS issued a ruling that proved to be a slap in the face to small and home-based businesses who prefer to use private mail-boxes rather then their own street addresses to give the appearance of operating out of an office building. The ruling prevented anyone from using the word "suite" or the number sign in conjunction with the postal store's street address (for example, #300, 25 Main St.). Instead, the USPS ruled that private mailbox holders use a "PMB" designation on their addresses that stands for Private Mail Box.

Criminal Activity According to the USPS, the ruling was passed because criminals use private mailboxes for illegal activity such as identity theft and credit card fraud. The designated stamp of "PMB" would prevent fraud by showing recipients of mail from such an address that its origin is neither residential nor commercial. However, small and home-based businesses took action and fought the USPS, refusing to be placed in the same category as criminals.

The Great Compromise After receiving over 21,000 Letters complaining about the ruling, many from home-based businesses, the USPS reopened public hearings in September 2000 before the House Small Business Committee's Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform and Paperwork Reduction. The USPS passed an amendment deeming the PMB designation unnecessary. However, it did maintain that the number sign must be used in conjunction with mailbox rental addresses.

USPS on Trial The USPS has also come under fire from its mailing-service store competitors. The September 2000 hearings uncovered the fact that the USPS failed to produce evidence of mail fraud in direct relation to box rentals. Consequently, last November the Office of Advocacy of the Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C., formally requested the Antitrust Division of the United States Justice Department investigate the USPS rulings. Stay tuned.

Private Mail Boxes

I recalled the need for a PMB desgnation but it would appear that went awat

Interesting data on private mail boxes. Many small business's use PMB's.

This thread started as info only on Wanted Weeks...

It is interesting how threads can become somewhat convoluted along the way.

Is it posible that wanted weeks and ttimeshare are the same company? I was watching an auction last week by WW, that didn't sell, and the identical property is now for sale on ttimeshare. The auction is layed out identically. The resort is very small, it isn't on ebay very often

They tend to copy one another's auctions.

I found out from another TUGger who emailed me (Hi, Klaus) that Whole Foods has a UPS service center in the their store, and the address of that store is 300 Center Dr. The address seems a little off to me because the Panda Express is a distance from Whole Foods, and Panda Express's address is 301 Center Dr.

Mystery solved. Thanks to several people here, then Klaus who looked into the connection between Whole Foods and the UPS store.

How about a list of resllers that sell under more than one name? I don't know any, but I'm sure they are out there and others have more knowledge of them.

Further Comments - Wanted Weeks

Any further comments on Wanted Weeks...appears that at least one transaction has closed satisfactorily for a fellow Tugger.

So far, my transaction is going as planned.

Not going well so far

Mine is not proceeding at this point.

I won a 1BR premium annual SDO unit but when I received the paperwork, it was for a bi-enniel unit. They sent an email with an alternative but basically communication has stopped for some reason. I've left voicemails and emails with no response. I finally got a hold of two different people at WW in the past couple days but they know nothing. This Shaun character seems to be the hold up.

I have to say that I'm not impressed so far! The good thing is that I'm not a newbie to this process so that helps. We'll see how this goes.

I have a friend who won a WW auction 18 days ago and has yet to get a contract. They take days to return phone calls.

Why would WW spend money on an ads in the ebay and yet don't answer question? Don't they want to maximize their profit?

I won an auction on ebay with this group on July 26 and received the contract this morning. They claimed the week was floating 1-52 while the resort reported the week was blue time only available in the spring or fall (Lake Tahoe). They do not answer emails or return phone calls. Will be giving them a bad ebay rating and will never deal with them again!

I've been emailing this seller questions about a couple of current ads. Three days later, I finally got an answer to my first question, but the answer has nothing to do with what I asked. "Gary" either didn't understand my question or has no clue about what they are selling. The prices are a steal, with no bids the first time they were listed. Sigh. I'm afraid to get involved with this seller.

Emails to Wanted Weeks

I have emailed Wanted Weeks, and received a prompt response the same day. My question was answered to my satisfaction.

Great! I emailed them about three separate auctions and have not heard back. One auction has since ended. I suppose I could bid on the others and then get my answers....?!

wnated weeks update

I got my closing papers to sign yesterday - not the same unit as the contract I signed last month. It is the same size unit but the difference in unit number is a poolside unit instead of oceanfront. It also says that I am responsible for 2008 maintenance fees - the ebay auction and contract stated that my use and maintenance fees start for 2009. I have sent them an email and hope they respond soon - I am not happy right now. At least I didn't risk much.

Really interesting... I have been following a few WYN ads from WW this past week, and had not seen this thread. I did send inquiries, and they were answered the same day. I did not recognize the closing company. With so little ebay feedback, I did not bid, but intended to check them and the closing co. out through TUG or TS4M's.
Today I had time on my hands; I saw and read this thread and was surprised! When I told my husband the story, he said that was the company that tried to hand him a business card in May. He took it, but threw it away. We were at the VOA meeting for Wyndham in May at the Wyndham conference center in Orlando. As the guy handed him the card, he was asking my husband if we had any points we wanted to sell....

Ahhhhh.....Doesn't it just figure. Today, my evil twin could not believe that 126,000 Wyndham points did not have any bids at all and bid the $.99 to win the auction. Low and behold, I then come to TUG to read all this. Well, at least I've got my eyes open - and I haven't sent any money yet. I sure would love it if it would work out though! The problem is that I am relatively new to the timeshare world and can not spot things that the more trained eye would pick up on. I may be leaning on a few of you with questions. Thanks in advance:)

wanted weeks seems ok to me

I bought one of the less than $1 timeshares they had on ebay. I did my part in conatacting wanted-weeks and got the contract # and contact the resort to verify all the details were correct. There were a few minor things different from the ebay listing but really were better than the listing. I got the contract they sent and made a few changes that I wanted and sent it back to them. Within a couple of days I had the revised contract which I signed and returned. About a week later I got the resort certificate signed by the owners and signed and returned to the closing company. It has been sent to the resort and since it is a Mexico timeshare will take a few weeks to process. My experience with wanted-weeks has been great so far. They always return my calls are very nice.

I bought slightly over 300,000 El Cid Vacation Club Points very cheap. I also have own (also from ebay) approximately 500,000 more points there- so I know the resort and program very well. These people are not crooks and from the other comments I have seen, I would surmise they are just leaning the processes (and they try hard to correct any problems). I think you got a good deal and just do some checking like I did to make sure everything is as stated (but from previous postings-if not they always seem to void or offer comparable timeshares). I feel very strongly after working with these folks they are honest and are not the rip off artists-very nice people.

They quoted the fees incorrectly on every Wyndham points package they have listed, pretty much. That is such an easy thing to discover, if they would just go to the extra trouble to do it.

The Sheraton Desert Oasis that closed yesterday went for a song compared to what other sellers can get. You know why? Because they don't answer questions promptly (or at all), and I couldn't tell if the property was even what it said it was. I needed to have information to check on it. They would have gotten $1,000 or more over the price they got, just because they don't answer when we ask questions. It's a darn lousy way to run a company. :deadhorse:

They have received negative feedback on ebay from 3 people in the last 2 days. :(

Ebay Feedback

They have received negative feedback on ebay from 3 people in the last 2 days. :(

Provided my purchase closes satisfactorily, I will give them positive feedback.

Since they have multiple sales in progress currently, I would give them another month or two, and check the Ebay feedback again.

So far, I am satisfied with the progress of my Ebay win.
