[May '08 Thread] wanted weeks.com anybody heard of them?

I saw that SDO auction too! UGH. You could not tell if it was for platinum, gold or silver week. I mean COME ON! That is critical info for deciding if one should buy it or not. Let's see: desert in March or August. :ignore: :annoyed:

The no new listings could be just because they are gearing up for a 5-day string of listings that will end on either Saturday or Sunday. This seems to be normal for the ebay sellers, to list new properties on Monday or Tuesday, ending Saturday or Sunday.

Or maybe because there is negative feedback, we will see another ebay name with Wanted Weeks' listings.

Update on my WW purchase. Been waiting a little over 2 weeks since WW/RTS was supposed to have recorded a second deed with a corrected legal (and then for same to go to Wyndham title services to get my points registered in my name). Called Wyndham today, no deed. Called the county clerk's office, no deed. Called WW and spoke to a Gary who was helpful and said he would look into the matter asap. I am to receive a call today re the status of getting that second deed recorded.

A little bit frustrated today....

This morning they had a dozen items listed, several new today. Tonight they've all disappeared. Very strange.

I have two auction wins with WW from early July. Both supposedly closed and the deeds transferred. However the respective county clerks and resorts have no record of the transactions. On the few occasions I've been able to talk to a live person at WW I get the same reply... "we'll look into it". They stopped answering my emails a while ago.

So perhaps an expensive lesson learned.

If you pay in paypal or by credit card, can't you dispute it since it is within 60 days.

Credit Card Payments

At least with Pay Pal or your CC, you do have some protection in the short term.

Hopefully, many of these sales will finalize with a positive result.

So I was just wondering... I won an auction with them in early July as well. Cypress Pointe in Orlando. How do I go about checking on the validity of the it? They finally returned one of my 10 emails and said that it was at the title company and could take 90 days. Since this is my first timeshare purchase I'm clueless. If anyone can tell my who to contact that would be great!!! I think PayPal has a time limit to dispute - 60 days I believe, therefore 90 days seems a bit too convenient for them and nerve racking for me.

Once the contract for the purchase is signed, the next step is the closing process. The closing company will hold your money in escrow, until the deeding is completed and filed in the county courthouse.

The closing process can take from as little as 30 days to 90 days or more in some cases.

We have found that most closings take about 45 days.

Don't give up yet.

Does happen on EBay.

I bid on and buy art on Ebay and there is a real scammer in that section. Puts a bunch of "original" paintings up for auction that all expire on the same day, answers no email questions, a couple of people bite anyway, find out that the ads are fraudulent and before they can post negative feedback the scammer changes his name and reposts all the same pieces.

I worked with their fraud section and found 13 aliases for this guy and although they were appreciative they would NOT block this seller :wall: !!!!

So I sold my EBay stock that day - bad business model if they won't work a little harder on keeping the sellers legit.

lost cause......

OK all.
I started this thread after winning a auction from WW.
Since I did not get a good feeling after several days of no contact and then when I did get a hold of them I had to correct the contact twice.
I then called ebay AND paypal to check on them.....
PLEASE NOT........ paypal said they will NOT guarantee this auction since they are NOT paypal verified.........
I went ahead with the payment via credit card, I followed up by sending e-mails every couple weeks, NO response. When the 60 days was coming close I tried to call, left a couple messages for Shaun, NO return calls. I did speak to one person and they said they will check into it.
Never heard back. On the 58 day from paying I called my credit card company and filled a dispute. They have now refund my money since they could not get a answer from them either......SO please be careful and remember again paypal told me NO guarantee

Good luck to all.

Credit card disputes

I recommend you check with your credit card company.. Many cards have a defined time limit from when an original charge is placed for a dispute to be investigated.. If your dispute occurs after that date- you may find that your card doesn't offer much protection.

The problem with these types of transactions is that the expected closing time often exceeds the dispute period...

Not all surprises are good! Take a few minutes and call.....

Wanted Weeks - Ebay Purchase

I won an auction on July 23rd, and was emailed the contract the next day. The contract was accurate, and listed the prior owners. This is for the Resort on Cocoa Beach.

I checked the deed history and found a satisfaction at the county courthouse for the original owners.

My emails have been answered the same day. Currently, the deed has been sent to the county for recording.

I am expecting this to close by the end of August.

So far, so good. Will keep you posted.

My contract had several mistakes and when I called the resort they informed me that the week for sale was quite different than what was on the contract. Once I brought this to wanted-weeks attention, they stopped answering emails and never returned any phone calls. I suspect that they ignore anything they view as a problem. They have 6 negatives and 1 neutral ratings in the last 6 months, this is a not a good ebay seller, so do your due diligence as a buyer.

They have listings again under wanted-weeks.com . After all I've read here, I wouldn't risk doing business with them. Their feedback isn't good, either. Good luck to all of those in limbo.

Feedack EBay

I think this company is still in a learning curve in the timeshare business.

Perhaps in 60 days, the feedback trend may be better. Although, it is over 85% currently.

I think this company is still in a learning curve in the timeshare business.

Could be, but in my mind there is still a difference between new to the business and new to the business AND dishonest. The phoney address still bugs me, and even more so when it is listed on their website as the site of their "Walk-In Showroom" :annoyed:

What part of the learning curve is this?

Ann

WantedWeeks - definitely not for everyone

I too wish everyone success in getting what they purchased through WantedWeeks....myself included.

My purchase is in closing. I've received a faxed coy of the deed that's been submitted for recording and have had very good communications with the closing agent. At this stage it's in the hands of the closing agent, county and resort to complete the transfer.

I'd still prefer a seller that's clear and accurate about what they have to sell and professional about doing their job.

If you can't handle the mistakes, ommisions, spotty communications and delays then this seller should definitely be off your list.

Well, it sure isn't legit to say your "walk in" office is a PO Box inside a UPS store. BUT, I used one of these type of PO Boxes when I started my own business and everyone requested a "physical address." I could not afford to pay rent here in San Diego, especially when I was starting out and was applying for loans. With this type of PO Box, I was able to establish a private mailing address that started the business off well.

That said, I never claimed it to be my walk in showroom! LOL.

They're gone from ebay again. They have a TS I want that has been listed twice with no bids, then with corrected info, then come and gone twice. Have been waiting for an answer to a question before bidding though.

I just received my contract from them. I e-mailed them and they responded right away. I am so new to this that I'm not sure of what order to do things in. The contract looks good. It is signed by the sellers and by Wanted Weeks. I guess I'm the last one. I have not paid them yet and I would like to check on information to make sure it is all correct, but Wyndham has told me that they can not give me information without a release of information. I know some of you are very knowledgeable about Wyndham. Can you advise me of how to proceed with this? Is that what an estoppel letter is for?

Would anybody be willing to take a look at the contract for me if I e-mail it to you?

As always, thank you.

Debbie

The above is from the Terms and Conditions section of their website. If they are only an advertising company why are they signing the contract?

It is signed by Jessica Van Sickle who it states is the Attorney In Fact and Authorized Agent. I am certain those titles can probably be thrown around by anyone who wants to use them.

The owners names are listed on the contract. Does this seem odd? I have purchased 3 points packages from three different sellers and the contract all look different so I'm not sure. The info is the same - just presented differently. Thanks

Attorney In Fact

We have purchased on Ebay from VIN, and closed via TCS. Vacation Innovations Network uses the attorney in fact on most timeshare deed closings.

You see actual owners name on the deed, with the signature of the attorney in fact.

Wanted Weeks Discussion

With this many threads, it appears that the discussion has covered all the angles.

Buying via Ebay auctions do carry some level of tolerance from the purchaser.

So far, mine have worked out well.
