We attended an owner's presentation this week. We own property and a small number of points and can exchange via interval to Marriott club properties, including Westin and Sheratons w/o extra fees - well, we pay it in our annual fee. We were TOLD THIS WEEK that we can also trade for Hyatt properties and Welk properties, but when I found a trade this week on Interval, Interval was still going to charge me a large exchange fee for the trade. Has anyone heard about this deal? I either misunderstood or was misled. I confirmed with two other sources that this was not the case, that there was a fee for that trade, and the people confirming this did not know of an upcoming change to the program to include Hyatt properties. Has anyone heard otherwise?

I'm guessing that you were told this by a salesweasel? As you discovered, yet another flat out lie. Not that it hasn't been told to others as well (we were told it in February).

You were mislead.
Sales have been peddling that you can use club points direct to book Hyatt and all you have to do is call owner services. When you call OS they tell you to contact II to make a trade 🤣

You weren't misled, you were lied to. Some will defend the salesperson by saying that they just don't understand and think that since Marriott Vacations Worldwide owns everything that this is how it works. Is it a lie if they don't know the truth? Perhaps not, but they are in the job to know the truth. So they shouldn't speak to things they don't understand.

I saw this thread and was hopeful, but it’s just a new version of a lie told by salesmen since Marriott integrated the Westin’s and Sheraton’s. It’s to bad since Hyatt/Welk has a few locations we’d be interested in visiting. We’ll probably exchange into the Hyatt/Welk In Branson, MO next year unless something pops up that interests us just as much.
It amazes me a salesman would tell that lie. With today’s electronics it’s pretty easy to disprove before ever leaving the round table.

Have you been to the Hyatt in Branson before? I stay in the area Atleast 8 weeks a year. I want to be candid, it’s a beautiful property… but the location is not the best and additionally their water park is under renovation with zero idea on when it will be completed, just a heads up. There are much nicer hyatts to trade into my two cents

We live close enough to Branson and the Lake of Ozarks that it’s like a second home. I’m very aware of the location, closer to the trout hatchery than anything else. We use to stay at what was once The Plantation at Fall Creek many years ago when we owned with DRI. Sometimes it’s good to be a little bit out of the way rather than closer to all the action. Plus, we typically only visit Branson during blue hair season when the crowds are light and traffic isn’t so bad. As for the water park, we have no need for such amenities. It’s definitely not a deal breaker if it’s not open.

Tagging on here… I did not think that we got to do free exchanges, but for some reason I had the impression we might have a little better priority for exchanges than non-Marriott and non-Hyatt folks. Was this something I was misled or is it true?

There is no exchange preference or priority between Marriott Vacation Club and Hyatt Vacation Club in II.
