Any word from them today? I hope they’re ok.
Yep, they have debris in their yard and in their living room they have a small door in the ceiling to access the crawl space. With all the wind, the door was sucked up and insulation blew all over the living room. So all in all, very lucky.

After checking Facebook this morning, I realized that I have more friends than I remember living in Florida. They all marked themselves safe this morning. 🤙🏻

Taking a break from cleaning up the mess. We lost power last night, and still don't have it. 70% of customers lost power in Pinellas county. Roughly 400,000 without power as of now in Pinellas. Strong howling winds made for a rough night. Came ashore about 40 miles from us as a category 3 storm. As the night progressed I questioned the wisdom of staying.

No damage to the house, other than screens by pool enclosure. Lots of tree damage in the yard though. Family members homes escaped serious damage as well. All in all quite lucky and grateful.

Our son's yard guy got over to his house in Apollo Beach this afternoon and took lots of photos to send him. DS could not see much other than tree branches and palm fawns down on his trail camera. There is minor damage to the house with 2 small sections of soffit torn off and the insulation sucked out. Also his globe lamp from the pillar/mailbox at the end of his driveway is now in his backyard but amazingly not broken. It came to rest beside a 2x4 section of lumber that DS has no idea where it came from, maybe a neighbours? He is so glad and thankful that he had no storm surge where is is, the water level in Tampa Bay actually went down! Electricity is still out (as of this afternoon) with no restoration timeframe but he is flying home Saturday morning to start repairs and probably throw out a freezer full of thawed contents as well as warm stuff from the 2 fridges. His DW said to call her when the power is back on.

The scenes from SE Florida where all the tornadoes hit is just heartbreaking!
