According to my post #209 above, I filled up my multiple vehicles at my Boston area BJ's for $2.61 per gallon on March 1. This morning on March 12, it was $3.17 per gallon, 56 cents more per gallon.
I'm so angry about "this" (and I'm not just talking about gas prices) that I'm not driving anywhere. Which is perhaps good. Because I'm now doing Boston Public Library searches for "events" and yesterday we went to a fascinating "author talk" in the North End branch given by Stephen Puleo discussing his book about Boston's Charles Sumner. "The Great Abolitionist. Charles Sumner and the Fight for a More Perfect Union" Fascinating stuff. A South Carolina US Senator, very much in favor of slavery, came to his Senate office in DC and caned him nearly to death. $1.10 for the subway to get there, $1.10 to get back home.
And then there was the Stratton Lecture in MIT's Wong Auditorium found on Eventbrite sponsored by the MIT Women's League on March 3. A discussion about cutting edge research now being done on the brain. Mind boggling. Especially with regard to how to keep your brain at peak performance throughout your life span. And a free catered lunch.
We were early. The auditorium got packed:

Again, $1.10 for the subway to get there, $1.10 to get back home.
Ice skating in the free of charge Steriti Rink in the North End. And then pick up some groceries at Star Market in the nearby TD Garden Complex. Same transportation expense.
So I think being car free has ENHANCED my life.

Let's keep this going.
