How much is gasoline in your area?

I paid $4.59 yesterday near my home in San Jose, I saw it is now $4.79 today.

The Houston Chronicle reported today that the average cost of gas in this area has increased 50¢ a gallon this week. That’s what I’m noticing as we pass stations.

And $3.59 today, one day later. Going up a dime a day, this could get interesting!

Kurt
Yesterday, $3.59 -- today $3.79. Up 75 cents since the start of the war.

Maybe that prediction of $6-7 gas before this is all done will be a reality.

Are we winning yet?

Kurt

Oil prices are down as G7 mulls releasing oil from Strategic Reserves of member countries
Russia has also been given a reprieve from oil sales sanctions

Both of these actions release oil into the marketplace

That's no doubt "wonderful" news for Ukraine. It might be an unintended consequence but an easily forseeable consequence.
Only reporting the facts
Will not get into any political discussion here on TUG

I have had enough warnings over the years
There are plenty of other social media outlets to do my rants

The price per oil barrel is up from $53 per barrel to over $114 per barrel.

The price per barrel has fallen back to around $87 in the last 2 hours

The stock market has recovered all of its losses from Friday
The S&P 500 is up 55 points around 6800 at the NYSE Close

Sam's here (Milwaukee, WI) is up to $2.89 . . . it was just $2.25 2 weeks ago.

Maybe, the price of gasoline per gallon will drop today?

LOL. Why does it always drop much slower than it goes up?
It never goes down as quickly as it goes up because it's not about the supply cost nearly as much as it is about how much and how long they can gouge customers under the ruse that their supply costs are higher.

$5.17 per gallon for regular this morning in Northern, CA. (Costco)

A barrel of oil is still priced around $85-87 a barrel today at 12:30 EST
This will keep the gas price per gallon around the same as yesterday
No big jump
No big drop

applies to many other areas too, would be my belief

What I do not understand is that when it is announced that the price per barrel has gone up these are all future Contracts for delivery in 90 to180 days. Not tomorrow. So the price should not go up for 90 days.

The contracts are monthly
They represent a barrel of oil available at Cushing, OK
Prices quoted are for the nearest month expiration
They close around the 25th of each month
The closer to expiration, the closer they are to the actual price of a barrel of oil
The price of an actual barrel of oil varies greatly based on type, where it is located in the world, etc., etc.
But it is very representative of the world price of a barrel of oil based on what can be refined from that barrel of oil
The oil markets are incredibly complex, but the futures price of the front month contract is a very close proxy for the price of a barrel of oil

If you want to see how varied the prices are for different types of crude oil
