First time user, should have found this site BEFORE our visit to Maui.
We attended a DRI timeshare presentation earlier this week and ended up purchasing points in the system. For background we have two boys that are old enough to start travelling and we want to begin showing them the world, so we do like the idea of vacation unit timeshares. Not sure this was the best way to do it though and would like some feedback:
The purchase was for 7,500 DRI points yearly in the 'Hawaii' Collection. An additional 7500 bonus points were provided, a 'member orientation' stay for 2 nights, and two 'Dream Week' stays in what appear to be solid resorts (Hawaii, Florida, New York/DC, cruise, etc). The cost is $23,953 with maintenance fees of $1750 per year.
Our idea is the purchase should get us a week a year at a good resort (two bedrooms) with the purchased points, another single week with the bonus points, and two additional weeks with the 'Dream Weeks'. That would make a great start for family travel plans.
That said $24,000 plus $1750/year would be a lot of travelling as well.
Feedback? And thanks in advance....
