Personally, I'm vested in the Idaho Potato Bowl on 12/23.

Right! Carolina Blue is going to pay him 10 millions dollars to coach their football team. I wonder will the boosters build him a house on campus to live in .
This is going to be an interesting experiment.

Pros:
2nd winningest coach in NFL history with 333 wins
Coached 9 Super Bowl teams
6 Super Bowl wins

Cons:
72 years old and has never coached a single day in college
Will be coaching a school that cares more about basketball than football (this could be a pro)
Recruiting 17-18 year olds, who were 11-12 when the last won the Super Bowl, is a huge part of the job
Never won anything without Tom Brady, the GOAT, as his qb

I was always a Patriots fan because I admired their consistent excellence. He was a great coach with Brady as his qb. He was a mediocre coach, and made some very puzzling decisions, after Brady left. I just don’t know if he is going to be able to attract the talent needed to win at NC. Either way, It will be fun to watch.

I'm guessing he will have a nice house in Chapel Hill (with his 24 year old girlfriend)

CBS Sports predicts - - Ducks !

Clearly Oregon should be favored. Only undefeated team, and has 3 wins over other playoff teams already. Having said that, any team that can go 3-0 or 4-0 in that bracket will inarguably be a deserving champion.

The team that is hot on that given football day and that can win 3 or 4 games in a row will be crown champion. IMHO.

The head coach does not recruit players. They have a special assistant coach to recruit players and to bring those recruit on campus for an
official visit.

Good point, but UNC has never had that. The AD who, reportedly, did not want to hire Belichick, has no experience working with a GM and a coach who both may have more power than him. The GMs’ only college experience was 1981-84, 40 years ago, at UNLV. The head coach has none. I think this model can work. My concern is how long will it take to get everyone on the same page and turn the program around? Let’s face it, at 72, Belichick isn’t going to be there long. Will it be long enough?

Makes one wonder why the need for a 12 team playoff if a team has already beat 3 of the others.

Top 4 super conference champions would have been better.

I agree the Top 4 Super Conference Champion are enough to determine the NCAA football championship. The other bowl games are for various television markets across the USA. IMHO.

But there aren't 4 "super" conferences. Boise State was higher ranked than the B12 and ACC champions. Notre Dame isn't even in a conference and they're higher ranked also.
I'm honestly fine with calling Oregon #1 if you're against a playoff. They're the #1 seed for a reason. Can they be beat? Of course. Both BSU and OSU took them to the wire. Will it be a travesty if Oregon doesn't win it all? I don't think so, even though they're the consensus #1 team going in.
Haters just need to let things play out. As I've said, just like nearly every other major sport, when it's all over in a month, nobody's gonna be claiming the national champion isn't worthy.

IMHO, the regular football season needs to be shortened if they are going to increase the football playoffs games.

There is talk of Barry Sanders record being broken. What you says makes sense but how many teams would lose a game and how many would still play the same and how many would still play more?

If only we had teams grouped together to decide their champion before going to a national playoff format.

Maybe Notre dame should join a conference if they want a seat at the table.

Before there were more conferences and no playoff then a selection for a championship game then a small playoff now a big playoff and some want to make it 16 teams. Any more and the game will be played around the Super Bowl.

What? I could throw darts and come up with better rankings. 😂

If anyone's interested in seeing a ranking system based on performance, not speculation, they should check out the Colley Matrix rankings -- an unbiased computer based ranking system that only takes results into account. Strength of schedule is inherently "baked in" to the rankings, as a team gets more ranking points for beating other highly ranked teams and fewer points for beating lower ranked teams. Similarly, a loss to a "good" team isn't as penal to ranking as a loss to a "bad" team. Kind of how anyone with any common sense and/or analytical ability would do it. Algorithm was developed by a PhD in astrophysics who also happens to be a huge college football buff.
