Change in Affiliate Status for Grand Pacific Palisades and Carlsbad Seapointe?

I own HGVC and a deeded week in DRI - Sedona Summitt and noticed a change recently. When I logged into my HGVC the listings for Carlsbad Seapointe and Grand Pacific at Palisades are now tagged as "External Exchange Resort." Perhaps not coincidentally, both of those resorts now show up in DRI's Destination Exchange as "Club Affiliated Resorts."

By the way, you get a 13-month booking window in Destination Exchange (DEx) if there is availability and right now there is for Platinum season in 2020. IMHO DEx is definitely the way to book this one if you have access to both as it cost 8400 points for a 2 BD through HGVC. It is a Tier 5 exchange for DEx.

Does anyone have more information on this? For example, will both of those California properties cease to become bookable on HGVC in the near future. Just curious.

I own GPP with 8400 HGVC Points. I haven’t heard anything about this change. I do know HGVC had been selling GPP as part of their developer sales efforts. HGVC had taken over all resales from the Grand Pacific resale team.

HGVC had relatively recently stripped HGVC from resales. If all is true the existing Grand Pacifics with HGVC option should continue as-is. If not they will have many upset GPP HGVC developer purchasers on their hands.

I own a Seapointe 6200 point 1BR and haven't heard anything regarding DRI or any change in HGV membership.

I checked the Diamond Resorts list of resorts in California and there are 10 Grand Pacific resorts listed including Palisades, Seapointe and Carlsbad Inn. No MarBrisa, though.

Palisades says it’s Club Affiliated.

There are lots of units in Palisades and Seapointe that aren’t HGV affiliated. Plus they are managed by GPR and not HGV. For those of us with converted units, we have access to both systems.

They must offer up some HOA owned inventory to Diamond.

I’ve booked several DRI locations through GPX (GPR exchange) as bonus weeks so there is definitely a sharing of excess inventory between the two.

I’m a Diamond Resorts owner and we have had access to some of the Grand Pacific Resorts for at least five years now. They have not been as easy to book the last couple of years.
