Amex Hilton Changes

I also used my Aspire card to pay MF in Dec and Jan a the Elara too. I have seen posts on this link saying they got their $200 credits within 10 days ...
I waited 3 weeks and saw no credit.
I called them and they said wait 8 wks.
I waited 8+ wks, still no credit.
I called them after 8 wks and got the credits but was told MF's should not work but he arranged for it to work for me this time.

this whole happened to me last year too. Waited 8 wks and had to call them and got the MF song-n-dance but received the credit.

I just pay my MF's online through the HGV website. Should i pay the MF's a different way? Anyone hear that the Aspire $400 credit cannot be used for MF's.

When you talk to them, don't mention MFs. Just say spending at the property. MFs will mean nothing to them and this is a loophole in the intent of the credit that they could close anytime.

Absolutely. All of it. Not 100% proven, but Husker is most likely right. And extend that to this site. People who keep bragging about their MF on amex are advertising something they prob should not. You want to talk/ask about it? Be a "Wiseguy". Call it "that thing", as in "Hey, Vinnie, I paid my MF that way but I didn't get that thing. You get that thing recently? I heard Fat Joey did. whadabootu?" ;)
On that thing, I had no trouble in Dec or Jan. baddabing on that thing

If people keep Asking for it, we will most certainly get it (eliminated)...
Pls, for Pete's sakes, please do NOT say 'MFs' when you are calling. It is 'HGVC property spend'

When I called, I did not mention MF's. They knew it and brought it up.
But good advice - do not mention what the charges were for.
 
For both Dec, 2024 and Jan, 2025 payment of MF for my HGVC Orlando-Tuscany on my Aspire card I had to call or chat with Amex four times in order to get both of the the $200 credits to apply to my account. Never needed to do that before. I got the same story about calling back after 8 weeks. Never mentioned MF, just resort spending at that particular resort. None of the agents every mentioned MF or questioned me on the spend. Just kept saying give it more time until 8 weeks went by. It will be quite a hassle if I have to continue to do this twice a year....

Amex may consider this a feature rather than a bug.

I am having the same issue with paying MFs at Valdoro. Each time I used chat, I was told to wait 8-12 weeks. Well, now it has been over 8 weeks, and I was told to wait 12 weeks. I have plenty of other MFs to pick from. Which of the following MFs automatically triggers the Hilton $200 hotel credit on the AmEx Aspire card:

  • Sunrise Lodge
  • Ocean Oak
  • Kings Land
  • Craigendarroch Lodges
  • Boulevard

I wouldn't call. I would use the chat. I have noticed that is the best way to fix it l.

I had a very mixed experience with Chat in January. After waiting 3+ weeks with no credit, a very brief chat got the credit pushed through on my wife's card. I ended up going back and forth with a different rep on my card and finally abandoned the chat after about 20 mins. The rep kept claiming that Valdoro wasn't on the resort list (provided them the link) and then claimed that the reservation needed to be made through the hilton.com website. I got about 3/4 of the credit on my card thru on site charges at a stay in January and thought I might get the rest thru on site charges with a stay we had planned for early April that we have cancelled. I'm going to wait until the end of April and call if nothing posts by then.

Why worry the one that is iffy to bad? Is there a reason to not just use the others? BLVD is reported to "always" work.
My question has been: if you pay for >1 deed in the same month and the credit doesn't come for > 1 month, do you REALLY know which one or both triggered it?
I think next time I will pay one very early in Q4 & then wait 10 wks to pay the other.
 
Datapoint: I used the Aspire to pay the HGVC activation fees for a resale Elara purchase. The fees showed on the card as “Hilton LV52 COND HOAORLANDO FL” I did not think I would get the $200 credit either because the fees were for activating the purchase, or because of the weird way it showed on my card. One month later, a $200 “Hilton Resort Credit” has appeared.

However, I do not have the free night certificate, and have had the Aspire card for three months now. Any suggestions on that?

For initial sign-up? Ours took a LONG time. I can't say I measured it but >> 90 days. Closer to 180 days?

It is really CSR dependent so it may be worth ending the chat and coming back in to get a different person. Same for HGVC folks... You get different answers from different people

Welcome to the world of coupon book AmEx 'offers' (just like AmEx Platinum); so many offers have so many caveats, limits & fine print that it is not worth the hassle but that is the exact point of AmEx doing so, to minimize people using them and yet advertise them to entice more customers...

Yes, I receive the emails with the special offers… nothing special about them, unfortunately. Oh, I think I need to book a $50 SouthWest ticket (that I will turn into a flight credit) before the end of the month to receive the quarterly travel $. 🙄

Well, not as recent as some, but we each made Boulevard payments in December and January and all four credits posted within like 3-4 days.

That is two for Boulevard. I will run a test case on Boulevard then. What is crazy is that the resort credit triggers automatically on the Surpass card for Valdoro. Thanks.

Yes, Blvd works for both my Aspire and Surpass...even the other trick works with the Surpass Q2 and Q3

It has been a week since I purchased a Travel Bank credit on my Aspire. Has anyone had an issue with this a travel credit recently. It has always been working in the past. Need to get my $50 Airline credit, and I forgot and paid for flight on my other card. So I thought why not travel bank it again.

Any one with some recent experience.

We buy AS GCs with Aspire. However, for the Platinum card, since tickets don't count, I have done Travel Bank. As recently as this January it worked as expected. A few days. While still Amex, it is still a different card, so not an exact match.
