Depositing Craig Lodges and other HGVC weeks into DEX

Do I need to call and have them convert my 2026 to points or will that happen every year automatically?
You own a fixed lodge/fixed week. A reservation will automatically be made each year about two years beforehand (Like my 12/2026 reservation isn't in my account yet). If you want it converted to points, then you will need to cancel the reservation. I have never canceled a reservation that far in advance, but I have heard that you may need to call CSR.

just closed on the Craig lodge and my 2024 and 2025 points are posted to my HGVC account. Do I need to call and have them convert my 2026 to points or will that happen every year automatically?
Do you want to use them DEX? If so, you need them as a reservation not points so if they are points, contact HGVC CS and request that they reinstate the weeks. You will need to provide the week number and it you have the reservation number that was cancelled, then give them that. After they are a reservation, then contact DEX EU and request to enroll. They may seem confused that you don't have a DEX membership number but tell them that you don't have one yet and he to enroll then deposit your HGV Craig Lodges weeks. You can deposit up to 2026. I just deposited our 2026 weeks. DEX EU will then contact HGVC to cancel the reservations. DEX EU will ask you the week numbers to deposit.

You can call or email. I called the first time around but only emailed them this time. They aren't the quickest though... And they tend to make mistakes

Thanks, I need to sign up for Dex still.

Make sure that you have the reservations though. They need to those and then they will cancel them to deposit. Just having the points won't work.

Bit of a clumsy process but once you get it all set up, it works better. They tend to be confused by us HGVC folks.

HGVC can be confused also when you ask them to reinstate them, if you already have the points.

Like GT75 said, normally, they will come into your account as an existing reservation and then you cancel them to get the points but when you buy them, Donna usually asks if you just want to points and it short cuts the process. Also, sometimes, the points will come in first and then they disappear when the system makes the reservation.

Donna converted my 2025 reservation to points. My 2024 points came a few weeks later, the seller had to call into customer service to get them transferred to me.

Depending on the 2024 week, it may be too late for those but you can try to make the reservation then deposit. You don't want to do it is it is within 30 Days though

2 bedroom, week 21 so probably too late then.
We are already past week 21 (late May) for 2024. But you could deposit your 2025 week. You will get a tier 6 for a 2BR Week 21 deposit.

Nice thanks
Make sure to look at the chart in the guide about a tier 6. You can use to book 1 for 1 but you can also split it for a 1 for 2. The guide explains it. Also, double check what the season should be in the DEX property table. Look at the unit type by week and then season. The DEX EU folks are getting better but they have messed up the tier of the deposit many times. If it is a peak season 2 bed, then it would be Tier 6.

I wonder if DeX exchanges are treated as home week reservations. When I exchanged my Craig week with II for a week at Tahoe I was treated as an owner and got free valet parking and no resort fees were charged. This was at the Marriott Timber Lodge so not DRI.
@JohnnyO , looks like @amirh successfully deposited/exchanged their CL week into II apropos your recent query re this...

just looking at these rules for splitting. Unfortunately it maxes out at tier 2, but it is a possibility. thanks for sharing that as i didn't notice it the first time around.

I'm just getting the process started to enroll my week now and quickly realizing one week isn't going to cut it anymore since I won't have any hgvc points left. that said, the destination xtras look intriguing. Does anyone have screenshots for the cash rates at point at poipu, kanapali beach club, or the modern? i'm just trying to get a sense of how much they charge if i wanted to extend a week or just book cash rate. Getting a few cash nights on there might be a way to lengthen my Hawaii trips and do some inter-island hopping even if I don't have anything to exchange in DEX. at the very least, compared to cash rate on other websites, we wouldn't have to pay the resort fees.

Has anyone bought the extra stays through Dex using the Amex card? Wondering which category it falls under.

I bought Modern and had to pay Hawaiian tax upfront with DeX EU. It does not count.Says Diamond Real Estate properties (or something like that.)

When we paid for stay at hotel desk, we paid with Sapphire for 3x because I wasn't sure if AMEX would work.

We just used Destination Xtras at Fairway Forest Resort HVC but the charge shows up as DRM Fairway Forest Resort so 3x.

I went to the Amex chat but they said it isn't showing up as a Hilton. Sounds like I need to now reach out to HGV to get them to do these correctly.

Are they HGV or Diamond? They need to make up their mind. So much stuff still says Diamond on it yet they try to tell us that they are HGV now

Here is the Modern in Xtras and it is per night

With all the speculation on the timeshare Tuesday recap on RCI/II and their use going forward, and my comments on mini systems bringing some competition - how much does DEX charge for an exchange? Any thoughts on if DEX might open up more and be run as a more obvious competitor to RCI? I wonder if HGVC might eventually go all DEX for exchanges rather than RCI - presumably once whatever contract expires that they have...

Thanks! Those destination xtras rates are ok I guess, probably better than what I can find on Priceline and no resort fees. I could probably beat that price on renting on redweek though. I guess they would mainly be for a couple days here there if the option was available.

Yes, you can pick different lengths of stays. I just left the 7 day default

IMHO...The pricing is *okay* for a few nights best uses are

1) If you have a week stay on poinst/deed and need an extra night or two to catch a better airfare
2) need a bridge between 2 deeded/point weekly reservations

I signed up for DEX last month with my Bay Club deeded week. My dashboard is showing the week was properly deposited and will be good for the next five years (as well as a bonus week good for two years.) I was promised there are over 4,400 properties listed with Dex but when I search for properties in England only three show up and zero in Wales! (Am looking for May 2026.) Nor can I find an online catalogue of properties like RCI has. I actually emailed a resort in Wales and was told, yes, they're a DEX property, yet I cannot find it listed anywhere in the limited DEX search tool on my owner dashboard. My emails to DEX/owner services are going unanswered and the chat on HGV was hopeless. Can some kind TUGger help me figure this out? I'm about ready to call DEX (assuming someone answers the phone), demand they cancel my new membership, and go back to RCI! :-(

If your version of DEX is similar to the DEX EU portal, searching is a pain. There isn't a property list. I search 3 different ways; by property name, by country, and by continent. I also search 2 years out to the maximum date and then sort by arrival date then scroll down to the dates that we are looking for.

Pretty crappy search engine.

Sigh. I guess when the salesperson promised "over 4,400 properties" it never occurred to me I wouldn't be able to look at them. Sheesh. I've tried your recommended tricks and still am not finding any properties in Wales (despite knowing there's at least one) and only three in England. Crappy indeed.

What is the name? I can check in DEX EU
