Lies currently being told by Marriott sales staff

Although as I understand it International resorts cannot sell Trust Points, That is what we have always been told and understood for European MVC resorts anyway?
I've been offered Trust points in Spain as well as US weeks. They seem to be able to at least facilitate the transaction, even if it is via the mothership.

Interesting to know, perhaps they just facilitate it or perhaps it is just non US residents they are unable to sell Points to?

They will also sell trust points in Aruba but right now they seem to heavily push St Kitts weeks.

Could be. I suspect the sale of trust points internationally still go through a licensed Florida real estate agent.

My understanding is that it is a limitation imposed by the national or local authorities. Costa Rica recently granted permission for the sale of trust points there, so they've started selling them. Other places may not have authorities that have agreed to allow it yet. I would guess there are hurdles to overcome with fees and taxes not going to the place where the sale happens.

I've been offered and aren't a US resident and other EU residents I've spoken to in Spain have bough Trust points there. It was one of those, buy Trust points to enroll your weeks ownership stunts that they pulled. Makes me cross that they do/did that when enrollment has been free for people for so many years.

Enrolment has only been free for qualifying weeks though, bought direct from MVC or bought resale before the cut off dates in US/Caribbean 2010 or in Europe 2012 or in Phuket 2016.

Yep, these were MVC purchased weeks that they got duped in to buying points to enroll. Makes me grumpy they do that to people.....

I had someone a couple years ago commenting on one of my YouTube videos that they were told the same in order to enroll. I convinced them to rescind and enroll for free through the webinar. They were a US based owner at a US based presentation. It worked perfectly. They saved tens of thousands of dollars and their weeks were enrolled.

International owners are still not able to enrol for free through the webinar sadly.
They are though able to do so for a much, much lower fee than having to buy points or weeks, which sales folk really should not be telling them they need to do!

Just got out of a presentation at MGO. We own two legacy weeks and they pushed hard that weeks are very hard to use, book, trade, and the points are super easy and you can get what you want 96% of the time. Then, when I mentioned doing an amnesty program and enrolling the weeks, I was told the enrolled points are not the same as the real points and it would be harder to book than buying real points. That is, until the closer came in with the offer and express how the enrolled points and the new points are the same and can be combined for status and for booking. The first lady was frustrating enough that it eliminated any desire we had to purchase.
She is the classic sour puss - ruined the experience for you so nothing would change your mind.

The biggest untrue that was told by all timeshare sale staff years ago; was that timeshare was an investment.

Wow, this comment is the "Statement of the Century," and should cause Marriott Vacation Club Sales Leaders to stop in their tracks, and reassess how they do business and who they are, professionally and personally. But, I have no hope for that, as MVC continues to move some of the most deplorable people, of highly questionable character, to leadership positions in their organization.

To read, Marty (JME), one of the most loyal, enthusiastic MVC supporters that I know, present such an assessment of an MVC sales employee, and her deception, is a disgrace. But, Marty and others, don't kid yourself, this lady's leaders and leadership know exactly how this lady operates, they know all about her lies and deception, but, they benefit financially/profit from her lies and deception, and they likely consider her dishonesty, and behaviors (that one day will capture the Security and Exchange Commisssion's attention), "the cost of doing business."

I am reminded of how a Pimp makes sures that his/her prostitutes are fed and drugged-up, to do their job.
Forgive me did this lady worked at MOW one time. She is the one that cause us to never attend another presentation.

Maybe every Owner of any timeshare should sign up for every "Owners' Update" offered. Then sign a Contract to buy several $100k worth of Weeks/Points/Credits. Then next day send Recession by Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested. Rinse and repeat. Maybe if you are lucky they will stop inviting you.

I doubt that they are selling any stand alone Trust points in Spain; that would violate Spanish law. I am friends with one of the sales staff at the MMBR property; we've had this conversation multiple times. They do not sell Trust Points directly. They do sell enrolled RTU weeks in Spain.

They do not sell Trust Points directly.
Its not exactly hard for them to facilitate the sale of trust points via the Orlando office, just like they sold US weeks before the points system was created.
Buyers wouldn't even know or care about the difference.

I had thought about this, but the paperwork takes so much you’d waste half a day.

In all fairness, TS's are investments, just not monetarily ; rather, on your vacations

Agreed. I have received a fair return on my investments in this area, but it has not been a monetary return.

If maintenance fees continue to increase as they have this year, I may need to reevaluate the feasibility of continuing to support the investment.

The rate of MF increases are likely on alot of owners' minds. All timeshare companies need to understand they have a time bomb on their hands. The question is will they be willing to forego greed to rein costs in.

I must agree our timeshare investments have been a quality travel investment for my family for over twenty five plus years.
