Lies currently being told by Marriott sales staff

Been away from the forums for a while. I've looked through 3 pages of posts headings and can't find the thread that had in-depth discussion of the "name request thing". Can someone lead me to it?
Sorry probably just my nomenclature - it's the requirement to add a renter's name on the MVC / Abound web site, that in theory can take up to 30 days to process. Before that requirement you had other avenues to change the check-in name (through Marriott.com, call the resort, etc.).

Yes, I know. There was an extensive thread here on TUG regarding the new form. I wanted to see the latest news on that discussion but can't find the old thread.

Here you go;

I’ve seen posts of owners still changing names on Marriott.com without repercussions. I’m wondering if they will really turn away a renter. I won’t test it but if they don’t turn them away then they are just doing it for show and don’t really care except to get contact info for the sales staff.

I think there should be a way to see the reservation in our guests names. I’ve done the online form and prior to that I had used the Marriott Bonvoy website. With the Marriott Bonvoy website you could see the guests names but with the online form there is no confirmation that they received it and it is processed.

I change the guest name on Marriott.com as well as filling out the form. I send the Marriott confirmation to the renter.

According to some prior posts (perhaps another thread), another reason they want this form is so they can also go in and remove the owner's Bonvoy number from the reservation. Is that true or not? I don't know. But there seems to be some issues with owners getting Elite Night Credit from a rental when they weren't staying in a guest room which is against the Bonvoy Terms and Conditions.

When i make a Abound points ressie,the ressie shows up in my Bonvoy Account.....once i fill out the change of name(my daughters name) form on MVC.. the ressie leaves my account in a couple of days and appears in her Bonvoy account with her Bonvoy # attached.

An acquaintance of mine - owners at Newport Beach - attended a sales pitch the last time she and her husband were there. They went with an open mind to possibly adding to their ownership. Unbelievably, the sales rep was rude, bullying and arrogant. Needless to say, he didn't close the deal. Guess MVC calculates a win some/lose some business philosophy - not particularly caring if their reps leave a bad memory with prospective buyers - because stories like this are rife on this site.

Seems to be a case of the sales rep not understanding their vict... I mean customer.

I am at Surf Watch in Hilton Head Island and have attended a sales presentation. Our first in a few years. We are Chairman’s level in MVC. It is incredible to me that the sales staff cannot seem to stick to the truth. Our salesman stated that resale points in the MVC system, if bought on the after market, would never count towards status in the MVC system, regardless of whether one pays the repatriation fees or not. As I read the rules, I think that this is simply a lie, but if I am wrong, please respond and let me know.
what are repatriation fees?

what are repatriation fees?
A high faluting way of describing the additional fees paid to Marriott in order to be able to use resale points and have them count towards your owner benefit level as described in the rules. As described by @Cewood, the statement was a lie by the sales staff.

There are people on these forums who purchased MVC points resale, paid the junk fee, and have those points count toward their status. So, demonstrably false.
Any idea how much how resale points are now- I know Marion will add $3-4 per point on top of sale bit wondering current prices.

It’s ROFR price that is important, looks like $3.80 passed according to ROFR. Rules of thumb last year was around $3.50.
