I know that you are smart enough to comprehend what I'm talking about, but you continue to skirt the issue.

Sure the 105,000 guy is taking a reservation that will no longer be available, but with the new credit pool rules, cancelled points can be used in the next use year giving the vip more use year points than he is paying mf for. That was not the intention of the discount.

I know that's not the intention of the discount but that's an altogether different thing than saying I am somehow "taking " something from other owners

You might argue that I'm not paying maintenance fees I should be but that not hurting other owners either

Is that true? Does Wyndham actually pay the MFs when VIP members get reservations for a discounted number of points? (In other words, if a Platinum VIP books within 60 days, and pays 100,000 for a reservation instead of the "full price" of 200,000 points, Wyndham actually pays the MFs on the "missing" 100,000 points?)

I had assumed that non-VIP members were absorbing the cost of the 60-day discounted prices for VIP members.

Wyndham uses the points it owns to "make up the difference". Since Wyndham pays MF's on the points it owns, just like any other owner, the cost does not fall to non-VIP owners.

Thanks! This makes me more interested in maybe buying some Wyndham points someday, now that I know I won't be subsidizing VIP owners.

You keep asking different questions.

Anyone booking online has no knowledge about the source of the reservation they are booking.

If a reservation is cancelled, it is fair game. It is the canceller's responsibility, not the reserver's responsibility.
