What is anyone doing with the space that was the soaking tub?

Has SurfWatch ever had a big jetted or soaking tub?
Never. Always the big shower in the master and combo tub/shower in each of the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. Anybody remember which TUGger it was who dubbed SW's big showers, "the car wash"?? HAHA

True...but other resort systems have mostly chosen to replace their jetted tubs at their resorts with soaking tubs. While some have swapped in large walk in showers, in my experience MVC is the only one that just rips out the tub and replaces it with nothing.
I think the decision to remove or swap is an individual HOA/BOD decision. I know several resorts where they've swapped the tub for a large walk-in shower (Grande Vista and Cypress Harbour). What resorts other than NCV has just removed them and replaced it with nothing?

Fairway Villas.

Fairway Villas.
I could see why they might not have replaced it there. It seems like one of the less popular resorts. Also, what was the previous walk in shower situation like? If they already had a decent walk in shower, then it might make sense to not replace it. Though I would question why they removed it at all.

Just returned from NCV where we were pleasantly (mostly) surprised to find that the oldest units have been refurnished and all surfaces refreshed. I had heard that those big tubs that were in most Marriott timeshares were being replaced and yup, it is gone. We had used that space for our laundry baskets (bring our own), towel hanging and suit drying. Now however, there is what I assume is meant to be a make-up table with mirror and a lower table for ? maybe a suitcase? The make-up table has an uncomfortable chair with wicker sides and back. We made do, but there is something lacking in this space - perhaps another towel rack or two or some open shelving would help. What do others do with it? Speaking of uncomfortable, the bar stools are not good for long sits, and the chair in the living room is also rather uncomfortable. I prefer a chair over a couch seat any day but not this chair. I think it needs a foot stool of appropriate height. Also not a fan of the floating shelves in the kitchen. I did ask in my review if all the dishes were washed after check out. Seems like grease and dust, not to mention sneeze attacks, could settle on these open surfaces.
We own at Shadow Ridge, Ca and they have taken out the tubs with the new renovation. We didn't mind loosing the tub, but the towel space and hanging space for bathing suits and robes and pj's is gone. I have had to find "stick on hooks "that I can remove when I leave to make the bathroom functional! Marriott could easily fix this. I mention it in my review everytime I go.

Yes...except that for three quarters of the year a nice warm bath would be really nice. I would expect that the tub saw much more use than those in warmer climes. Fall is reasonably busy as there are a number of 'spooky season' activities nearby (some 'celebrating' the Jersey Devil) that then shift into Christmas.

Also, what was the previous walk in shower situation like? If they already had a decent walk in shower, then it might make sense to not replace it. Though I would question why they removed it at all.
The existing walk-in shower is just OK...I'm guessing 2' 6" x 4' 10" but kind of tucked in the dark in the toilet room.

It's been a long time since we stayed at our home resort, Cypress harbour as I remember they had a huge circular jacuzzi in the master bedroom. IMO, a total waste of space. Too bad they couldn't take that space and make the 2nd bedroom bigger.

They did actually, kinda, do that. Or are in the process of doing that. I don't think there would be a way to make the second bedroom larger by removing the tub. That would take a considerable effort considering the second bathroom and all the other bathroom fixtures of the master bath are between the tub and the second bedroom.

Here is what replaced the big tub at Cypress Harbour.

I wish they would remove them from Westgate Flamingo Bay and replace with a shower or even a regular tub. At 74 they are hard to get in and out of plus they take up so much space. Also, I don't like sitting in the open room and taking a bath.

About 10 years ago, my mother and I were staying at PLANTATION resort I think in Surfside Beach, which was just south of Myrtle Beach. These are two story buildings. Mom and I were in the first floor unit when we noticed a leak coming from right over the big jetted tub that was in the master bedroom. The water was really kind of gushing. We called maintenance. They didn’t think it was a burst pipe, but something was obviously coming from the second floor. They went upstairs and they knocked and knocked and knocked, but nobody answered the door so they used their master key to go inside and found a couple frolicking in the jetted tub in their glorious birthday suits. It seemed that they were so. vigorous in their activity that the water was splashing over the sides, running down and into our unit below. Luckily it was literally running right into the middle of the tub. Needless to say the couple was kind of embarrassed, but I’ve had this story to tell for many a year. Another reason to remove those tubs.

At our resort they eliminated all water jet tubs due to cleanliness concerns. There were some suggestions to remove the big tubs completely, but the winter ski guests insisted that the tub stay, so the new one has just air jets, drains fully, and then automatically runs a clean cycle about 15 minutes after use.
