What is anyone doing with the space that was the soaking tub?

Just returned from NCV where we were pleasantly (mostly) surprised to find that the oldest units have been refurnished and all surfaces refreshed. I had heard that those big tubs that were in most Marriott timeshares were being replaced and yup, it is gone. We had used that space for our laundry baskets (bring our own), towel hanging and suit drying. Now however, there is what I assume is meant to be a make-up table with mirror and a lower table for ? maybe a suitcase? The make-up table has an uncomfortable chair with wicker sides and back. We made do, but there is something lacking in this space - perhaps another towel rack or two or some open shelving would help. What do others do with it? Speaking of uncomfortable, the bar stools are not good for long sits, and the chair in the living room is also rather uncomfortable. I prefer a chair over a couch seat any day but not this chair. I think it needs a foot stool of appropriate height. Also not a fan of the floating shelves in the kitchen. I did ask in my review if all the dishes were washed after check out. Seems like grease and dust, not to mention sneeze attacks, could settle on these open surfaces.

At Grande Vista they've removed the tub and replaced it with a large walk-in shower. The corner where the small shower was previously is now just a closet.

Cypress Harbour did something similar, but I don't really recall exactly what they did with the space where the shower was that used to be entered through the water closet where the toilet was. I think it is just gone and they closed off the space. Sad thing is I was just there a couple weeks ago.

Fairway villas just left a huge empty tiled space. Great if your handball or squash game needs a quick refresher, not so great if you want to take a bath.

You may be suffering from CRS. " Can't Remember S*** "

Don't feel bad. I've had CRS for a while now......... It happens to everyone.
I think that's it! And honestly, I even forgot that I had some video I could look through to see what it looked like now. Though when I go back and look at it, I can't seem to figure out how it would have fit into the old layout. Perhaps the building we were just in with the renovations at Cypress Harbour had a different setup in the bathroom than the old one we stayed in before. The toilet and everything looks to be in a different spot. I wouldn't think they could easily move the toilet.

Surf Watch did a beautiful job converting the tub to a walk-in shower.

I think Surf Watch installed a new tile floor, in the master bathroom, at the same time, and did a nice job with that, too.

Hasn't SurfWatch always had the large walk-in shower? They had that shower the first time we went in 2011 and I think the resort only opened in 2005. If they ever had a tub, they ripped it out quick.

dont care what resort it is, the bathroom needs more places to hang things!

towels, bathing suits, hats, children, the list goes on and on.

Racks and hooks are inexpensive to buy and easy to install, so I’ve never understood why there weren’t more of them,

NCV already had a large shower in bathroom.
The large soaking tub was in bedroom.
I for one will miss the tub. Had to be a cost cutting measure.
Water bill too high? Cleaning it takes too long?

I can understand getting rid of the jetted tubs, they are harder to really get clean and more expensive to maintain due to the jets. But I would have hoped that they'd just replace them with non-jetted soaking tubs. Not so much for me, but my wife LOVES soaking in the tub when we are on a trip. I think it's her favorite activity while traveling, even though she rarely does it at home (and at home we have a jetted tub).

Cypress Harbour also took out the tubs? I couldn't get in and out of it anyway, but the grandkids loved that big tub.

They are removing them as they do the latest round of renovations. Some units have had them removed and some still have the tubs in place. At some point they will all be gone.

They are getting rid of the tubs in Cypress Harbour and those are not jetted. They use air bubbles and much more sanitary than jets. But not as strong as jets but I will take this over jets. I also like to soak after a day of walking around.

I really liked the huge shower at Grande Vista.

It’s funny though- I was on hold for the front desk and there is a recording about the resort amenities that plays while you wait instead of hold music- and it specifically mentions that every unit has a private whirlpool bath to enjoy. Apparently they haven’t updated it in a while…

Sounds like MGO is keeping the tub through the next refresh, primarily because there is no tub in the 2nd bathroom.
