What is anyone doing with the space that was the soaking tub?

Just returned from NCV where we were pleasantly (mostly) surprised to find that the oldest units have been refurnished and all surfaces refreshed. I had heard that those big tubs that were in most Marriott timeshares were being replaced and yup, it is gone. We had used that space for our laundry baskets (bring our own), towel hanging and suit drying. Now however, there is what I assume is meant to be a make-up table with mirror and a lower table for ? maybe a suitcase? The make-up table has an uncomfortable chair with wicker sides and back. We made do, but there is something lacking in this space - perhaps another towel rack or two or some open shelving would help. What do others do with it? Speaking of uncomfortable, the bar stools are not good for long sits, and the chair in the living room is also rather uncomfortable. I prefer a chair over a couch seat any day but not this chair. I think it needs a foot stool of appropriate height. Also not a fan of the floating shelves in the kitchen. I did ask in my review if all the dishes were washed after check out. Seems like grease and dust, not to mention sneeze attacks, could settle on these open surfaces.

At Grande Vista they've removed the tub and replaced it with a large walk-in shower. The corner where the small shower was previously is now just a closet.

Cypress Harbour did something similar, but I don't really recall exactly what they did with the space where the shower was that used to be entered through the water closet where the toilet was. I think it is just gone and they closed off the space. Sad thing is I was just there a couple weeks ago.

Fairway villas just left a huge empty tiled space. Great if your handball or squash game needs a quick refresher, not so great if you want to take a bath.

You may be suffering from CRS. " Can't Remember S*** "

Don't feel bad. I've had CRS for a while now......... It happens to everyone.
I think that's it! And honestly, I even forgot that I had some video I could look through to see what it looked like now. Though when I go back and look at it, I can't seem to figure out how it would have fit into the old layout. Perhaps the building we were just in with the renovations at Cypress Harbour had a different setup in the bathroom than the old one we stayed in before. The toilet and everything looks to be in a different spot. I wouldn't think they could easily move the toilet.

Surf Watch did a beautiful job converting the tub to a walk-in shower.

I think Surf Watch installed a new tile floor, in the master bathroom, at the same time, and did a nice job with that, too.

Hasn't SurfWatch always had the large walk-in shower? They had that shower the first time we went in 2011 and I think the resort only opened in 2005. If they ever had a tub, they ripped it out quick.

dont care what resort it is, the bathroom needs more places to hang things!

towels, bathing suits, hats, children, the list goes on and on.

NCV already had a large shower in bathroom.
The large soaking tub was in bedroom.
I for one will miss the tub. Had to be a cost cutting measure.
Water bill too high? Cleaning it takes too long?

SurfWatch always had a large walk-in shower off from the master bedroom.

I can understand getting rid of the jetted tubs, they are harder to really get clean and more expensive to maintain due to the jets. But I would have hoped that they'd just replace them with non-jetted soaking tubs. Not so much for me, but my wife LOVES soaking in the tub when we are on a trip. I think it's her favorite activity while traveling, even though she rarely does it at home (and at home we have a jetted tub).

Cypress Harbour also took out the tubs? I couldn't get in and out of it anyway, but the grandkids loved that big tub.

They are removing them as they do the latest round of renovations. Some units have had them removed and some still have the tubs in place. At some point they will all be gone.

Has SurfWatch ever had a big jetted or soaking tub?

They are getting rid of the tubs in Cypress Harbour and those are not jetted. They use air bubbles and much more sanitary than jets. But not as strong as jets but I will take this over jets. I also like to soak after a day of walking around.

I really liked the huge shower at Grande Vista.

It’s funny though- I was on hold for the front desk and there is a recording about the resort amenities that plays while you wait instead of hold music- and it specifically mentions that every unit has a private whirlpool bath to enjoy. Apparently they haven’t updated it in a while…

Sounds like MGO is keeping the tub through the next refresh, primarily because there is no tub in the 2nd bathroom.

NCV old tubs were not jetted either, and so nice for a long soak every evening. They filled so fast, which I loved, too. And the master bathroom already had a big shower for two, so it’s not like they were replacing the tub with a big shower. They still have the big shower, but now the weird makeup table area even though the vanity is huge with two sinks already and ample space for makeup and hair preparation…..such a lame renovation…less for them to clean, but as I have said before, a sleek free standing soaking tub in that spot would have been beautiful and easier to clean and elevated NCV master bathrooms to match beautiful high end resprts. The worst part is as an owner of NCV with 5 weeks, they never even asked the owners in a survey if we wanted to get rid of the soaking tubs. Big bummer.

We tub every day at home, we think it sucks removing them. Absolutely dislike going to the hot tubs due to the high chemicals added. Sad day for us. We’re at cypress and requested a room with a tub. Fortunately they still have a couple.

I have grown to dislike hot tubs, too, as at NCV the hot tubs are filled with kids and sometimes babies most of the time. Uggg. Wish they had some adult only hot tubs. I will miss the soaking tubs they are taking out in the villas.

I still like hot tubs but I also hate it when kids are in there, unless they are polite enough to refrain from splashing or jumping in. I don't dislike kids, and I realize they want to have fun, I just don't want to be in the middle of it all the time while on vacation. And babies, whether hot tub or pool, I absolutely do not want to be in the same small enclosed body of water. I don't trust swim diapers to hold everything in.

Having some hot tubs as adults-only is great, even though sometimes that is ignored. Westin Riverfront in Avon CO had one that was adults only, and it was enforced, but it is right next to ones that are not adults only, and there were kids jumping around and splashing making it hard to fully relax. Again, I don't begrudge them enjoying themselves, but if the adult hot tub was a little farther away and secluded it would have been a more relaxing experience.

Sad thing about jetted tubs is that there may be biofilms that lurk in the tubing for the jets that may present a health hazard as they are an ideal place for bacteria to congregate and multiply. Therefore they require more ardent and thorough cleaning.

True...but other resort systems have mostly chosen to replace their jetted tubs at their resorts with soaking tubs. While some have swapped in large walk in showers, in my experience MVC is the only one that just rips out the tub and replaces it with nothing.
