I love this thread! Always happy to provide gratuitous pics of my best friend. 3 year old Rosie is the sweetest, most obedient dog. She is quite the bed-hog though. We were doing therapy work at a center until the pandemic. Now she just chills all day and enjoys sunning herself on the deck and long evening walks.

Your dogs are gorgeous. I always thought Rosie would be good at nosework. I play hide and seek with her with her cookies and she finds them no matter where I put them. Her entire leash walk is spent nose to the ground.

We are just back from a 4 day trip to Kings Canyon NP. The dogs came with us and had an awesome time too. There's a lot of National Forest adjacent to the NPs. So we'd get up super early, do a wee short hike in either Sequoia or Kings Canyon NP and then take the dogs to the Sequoia National Forest for some fun somewhere- swimming or a hike or whatever.

Our last day we took them on a five mile hike up to Rowell Meadow, which is at 9000ft. Five miles is a lotta steps for little dachshund legs. They did great and had so much fun.

No, not really. I rarely even use flea and tick products on them. But that’s mostly a product of living in SoCal. Fleas and ticks do not survive well in our dry summer heat, they need warm and moist. Most of our rain comes in the winter. So although we do have fleas and ticks, we have way less of them than east coast and Midwest folks do. When we are wet enough for ticks, it’s too cold for them. When we are warm enough, it’s too dry. The only time I’ve had ticks on the dogs is when rabbiting in a spring rainy patch. Spring rain is just not the norm here, mostly it rains Nov-Feb.

Just saw this thread. After 5 golden retrievers, we're down to 0 dogs, but we still have a parakeet that likes to get her feathers fluffed. Each time I blow on them, she makes a little chirp, and she'll often start squawking after I stop.

I said I'd never get another dog after we lost our mini schauzer last year but.....
