The bright side of COVID-19

I wanted to buy one in November but they were out of stock until mid December. I received it 10 days ago. It actually works pretty well. A bit of a learning curve but not a huge one.

One positive that I have seen- some friends have kept their children home from day care and these kids have literally blossomed in front of our eyes due to all the attention and focus from both of their parents.
Their mother doesn’t work (country club wife) and dad works from home but they still sent kids to day care every day. The day care closed due to the pandemic so they had no choice. The mom had no idea how to parent but has had a crash course and it has brought them all together and she is doing a superb job now. She is more tired but their family has definitely benefited. She feels more confident as a parent as a result.

Well, just over a year in, I can add this. We have saved a lot of money on gas.

The money we saved on gas, we spent on home improvements.
And just as things are opening up, the bills for that are coming in.

This pushed us to buying a vacation / snow bird home a few years earlier than previously planned. So far, it is looking like a good decision -- since we bought, the same home (there are several exact same model homes in several different developments in the area) has jumped up in value. The minimum price we have seen one listed since we closed on our house has been $60K more than what we paid, and at least one has been listed at $175K more!
