reservation strategy

I wasn't suggesting it was manufactured. I'm saying your experience comports pretty much exactly with the same complaints have with automatic upgrades, but people just don't discuss/complain as much about the waitlist so it's a useful data point. So when I said they "work similarly" I mean behave similarly - which doesn't necessarily mean they match all the time when it looks like they should. (And I've got both of my waitlist slots in use for a unit that I'll almost certainly not find in open inventory either so I'm not going to play around with it, but that's okay because I trust you.)
LOL! No offense was taken. Poorly said by me as I was trying to say you can manufacture situations to play with it, AND that was not how it happened to me. Maybe I'm still saying it wrong, LOL!

And I could play with it, as I don't have mine tied up. No reason to use them as I book what I want 10 months out and pay full price nowadays. It's also why my VIP has limited value to me. There's a few things I still enjoy with it, but not worth keeping it. Having to pay full price now, a lower MF contract will serve me better. Thanks for sharing your ownership strategy with the folks on this board, it has helped me learn this.

I've got 2 x 2BR units at Edisto this summer that I booked exactly at 10 months, but it would be nice to match to a 4BR in Southpointe (the only thing that could beat those units, and definitely save me some points - I matched a few months ago for a 4BR in Beachwalk but I decided it wasn't worth it so I went all in on Southpointe lol).

I wasn't able to take the trip, and cancelled, but I was able to book a 4BR Presidential accessible at South Pointe from a 1BR accessible at The Village inside my upgrade window, and the week only cost me like 60,000 points for a week. I was really looking forward to staying in these units. But had a work conflict come up and cancelled just outside of 15 days.

This was booked inside of 30 days, and I realize this is low season, but showing this can be done.

Probably not for mid-June, but we’ll see. It just takes one perfectly timed change of plans!

in my last meeting with a club member owner that sold me some extra points. He told me that a mentor can manipulate the reservations at Bonnet Creek Orlando in order to make sure that I have my 60 day 50% off reservation rebate as well as my upgrade even in spring break vacation do anybody know how to reserve 13 months in advance and then cancel inside the 60 day period to make sure that you get the same room at the discounted price without having somebody else taking the reservation that you just cancelled before you can book it again?
I did exactly that thousands of times. 1 bedroom to a 4 bedroom presidential. Good times.

am1 so how can indo that ? 1 bedroom to 4 br presidential ?

Ditto! The most I have ever gotten is a 1 BR to a 2 BR.
Floridaman76, I've seen several times you have posted about getting these "big jump" upgrades and wonder how. Is it just luck or do you have some strategy?

It takes a combination of good timing and luck, for the non-believers here's the email confirmation:

As I said previously, this was a VIP instant upgrade fron a 1BR Deluxe accessible unit in The Village to a 4BR Presidential accessible in South Pointe. Under norma circumstances, yes, you can only upgrade 1 room size type... but you can jump to bigger ones if that's what the next biggest upgrade available

You can routinely do this at certain resorts, especially last minute when cancellations show up. I make a habit of doing it at certain resorts. I upgrades from a 1BR to a 4BR Presidental at Clearwater once and multiple times from 1BR to 3BR Deluxe and once to a 3BR Presidential at Bonnet Creek. Just this Janury from a 1BR Suite to a 3BR Deluxe Ocean Front at Towers on the Grove

It's all about timing,.

This is very much a user experience may vary thing. That's pretty much common sense.

Upgrades can be easier to get for some owners because they can be more flexible about when and where they want to go. As in I found a great upgrade at ____ resort. Do you want to go there or can we make it work in our travel plans?

If you have to have a three or four bedroom unit you're not likely to be as successful with the upgrades as someone who can use a one bedroom deluxe or a two bedroom unit.

Another major determining factor is the time you have, or are willing to spend, looking for reservations. Not to mention the aggravation you're willing to put up with the website headaches. Like the various error messages. Getting logged out repeatedly. Trying to get your reservations to load. Etc., etc.

I look for what I can upgrade at the time of booking because the automatic upgrades all too often don't work like they're supposed to. I never make plans that are dependent on getting an automatic upgrade. I'll book a one bedroom deluxe, which is the minimum
size we want. If I luck out and it gets an automatic upgrade, that's great. I'll also book a studio or one bedroom and keeping looking for a larger unit. If I see a larger unit, I can cancel the smaller unit and hope it comes back to use for the upgrade to the larger unit that's now available. But I still have that one bedroom deluxe unit as my back up if my smaller unit doesn't come back or the larger unit turns out to be unavailable/ghost inventory.

If you're booking your stay in several reservations and your whole stay isn't upgraded to the same size unit, be careful. On one of our stays last year I wasn't paying attention and had the automatic upgrade request selected on part of the stay. Of course it upgraded and of course I didn't get an email so I didn't catch it for a few days. Lucky for me the original smaller unit was still there because DH would still be cranking about having to move units.

As they say, haters gonna hate...

raphwyndham is already so confused by salespeople about what is possible in Club Wyndham, there is no reason to be further misled by irrelevant posts referencing the at-will cancel/rebook/upgrade ploy of 10+ years ago, which is no longer possible.

It is, nevertheless, as pleasing now as it was 10 years ago to think about all the Club Wyndham owner families who are staying in 4 bedroom Presidentials during the Holidays, instead of random non-owners who have no skin in the game.

It can't be said that it is no longer possible. It can be said it is no longer reliable.

DISCOUNTED 1 bedroom to a 4 bedroom presidential.

It's definitely no longer reliable, but it's possible. Most of the "extreme upgrade" possibilities are also only possible way out of season. But last June I got lucy with a week at BC going from a 1BR Deluxe to a 3BR Presidential in tower 6.

This was definitely someone's cancellation and my lucky timing.

Sure, an upgrade from a 1 bedroom to a 3 or 4 Presidential is still “possible” – in the ultra off-season should all the stars align. Does this mean salespeople can legitimately promote the cancel/rebook/upgrade ploy 10+ years after it essentially ended? (Which was my point.) Are you using a technicality ("possibility") to defend the “truthfulness” of the salesperson? Sure, what the salesperson said is "possible."
He told me that a mentor can manipulate the reservations at Bonnet Creek Orlando in order to make sure that I have my 60 day 50% off reservation rebate as well as my upgrade even in spring break vacation

raphwyndham literally bought into your "possibility" to the tune of $125,000, and was played for a sucker by am1's post

am1 so how can I [sic] do that ? 1 bedroom to 4 br presidential ?

What are the chances for owners such as raphwyndham to upgrade from a spring break reservation at Bonnet Creek to a 4 bedroom Presidential or a 3 bedroom of any kind, today, which is the subject from Post #1 of this thread?

Zero or next to zero? Definitely not the irrelevant "thousands" of "possibilities" am1 reminisced about, that IS "no longer possible" (which was my point in posts #34 and #39).

Or should informed TUG members provide “the true story” to the confused who come here for enlightenment, versus non-sequitur posts about off-season reservation upgrades (which raphwyndham clearly has no interest in) or “possible”:ROFLMAO::LOL:unicorn 50% off cancel/rebook/upgrades at Bonnet Creek during holidays?

You should refrain from making categorical statements.

In no way did anyone "buy into" anything from my post.

How is your "possibility" (in your post)
It can't be said that it [cancel/rebook/upgrade] is no longer possible. It can be said it is no longer reliable.
any different from what the salesperson presented to raphwyndham?

Which raphwyndham bought into for $125,000.

What does that have to do with me?

I'm guessing a "dedicated" owner rep to help you with learning the ins and outs of the system to maximize your ownership. I've experience at several updates them asking me if I have a "dedicated" rep assigned to me to "help me with my VIP ownership". When I tell them no, that usually pivots the conversation to that if I would just buy more points, I would be assigned a "dedicated" rep that I could call at any time and that rep would help me book whatever I wanted, with discounts and upgrades. Just more sales weasel lies IMO.

i finally got my full refund of my 125K contract , i am stcuk with my initial 400K contract , i will try to use fiscal deduction back home in renting to friends to make the maintenance fees less painfull.

i am still having a couple questions.

on the resale market , the resale points RTU are available to book how many months in advance ? 10?

Club Wyndham Access points (regardless of how purchased) can be used to make reservations thirteen months before check-in at resorts with CWA units. Otherwise, ten months.
