If John Oaks is such a good business guy,, why does the venue he owns still have Christmas light stuff outside? And nothing going on!!??? Weird.
Thank you for the information.I called yesterday to see if my unit would be available. They said either my unit or a comparable one would be available. I'll know for sure come July. They are providing units to owners only. No RCI swaps and no rentals as per their last letter.
I think Poconos Park is defunct. If John Oaks is such a good business guy,, why does the venue he owns still have Christmas light stuff outside? And nothing going on!!??? Weird.
Interesting…Just saw this posted on Pike recorders of deeds. John Oakes has deeded back his Poconos Park property to his lender.

Apparently he did it last June???
Interesting about the Airbnb. I thought they were only making the units available to the timeshare owner's? I really cannot image anyone wanting to rent the units, especially if they would read the reviews.Yes, it was completed in June, 13, 2024. They finally recorded the deal on March 28 2025. It includes 5 separate parcels. The document is 31 pages long. Between June and March, there are several other recordings that show different banks involved and recordings that show he paid rent on the property for a few months. I think he lost it last June, paid rent to complete his final scheduled events so he didn't get sued, and then closed it after the first of the year. Would explain why there were complaints that people didn't get paid, and that the xmas tree lights are still up. It also coincides with that $700,000 judgement against him that was previously posted on this thread. It could also explain why the Eaglevilliageresort.com website is down. Deedbacks are still being recorded, though. Eagle village is now, apparently, offering units on Airbnb. I don't know what to make of it all. These are just facts I have found. Feel like we are back at the beginning, again, with no transparency and doubt.

The unit on Airbnb seems to be only one owner listing it. The renovation of Unit 1033 was featured on Facebook in January. If anyone is planning to stay and can see how 1033 looks, it would be helpful.I am getting concerned again. I thought all this was resolved several months ago.
Unfortunately nothing is going to be resolved with John Oakes involved. It seems everything he has touched has failed or is in the process of failing. It seems right now that he has gone to ground again. Noticed the facebook page has gone quiet again with no updates. I bet they don't even have any licensed and insured contractors working right now. It's unfortunate, but it seems as if this will go by the wayside like his other ventures. Only a matter of time until he stops paying the utilities now is my next guessI am getting concerned again. I thought all this was resolved several months ago.
Definitely on the best seller list. We had a little bit of horror (the condition of the units), a hero turned villian, (John Oakes) and now a mystery, where is John Oakes?? We are now awaiting anxiously for the sequel to find out what happened to John Oakes.I looked at the timeline. Oakes bought all the parcels (5) for 7.3 million in April 2022 after a long court battle between a developer and a mortgage company. From some of his postings, he had is eye on the property for years. He then held events starting in 2023. These are facts that are recorded. So let's say in late 2023 Eagle Village approached him. (I'm assuming this). He wants lodgings for his events. He eyes an opportunity to grab more land. Meanwhile. During spring of 2024 he loses a law suit to a Delaware company to a tune of 700,000. Also, his events are not doing well and he is not paying the mortgage. So he deeds back all of it to avoid foreclosure on his record. He does that in June 2024, and the very next month, July, he signed the contract with EV. January of 2025, Poconos park and the Lake house are closed down. He gets people from California to sit on the EV board and he is MIA. My prediction: I think he is out looking for investors he can con or he is talking with the new owner of all the Tamiment parcels to figure out how best to absorb us because now he has control of over 1500 weeks and probably more. All that old taminent and mountain laurel property is already zoned for over 5000 residences, a mall and more. I don't think he has put any money into EV. There are no investors and never were. He's using deedback money to buy those RCI points for members and sorta fix one unit. But that won't continue. EV will limp along for the remainder of this year, and then I think it will go into default on taxes, wages, insurance and utilities. If Oakes hadn't insinuated himself and given us hope, it would have happened sooner. Does tugbbs give out awards for the most incredulous timeshare story? We are in for quite a page turner.

I hope anyone that has recently stayed at EV could post their thoughts and observations.I am getting concerned again. I thought all this was resolved several months ago.
If they are not doing anything, (which we don't know either way as they have not been updating us,) then they should be reported to RCI. The only reason they were reinstated with RCI, is because they told them they were remodeling the units.I hope anyone that has recently stayed at EV could post their thoughts and observations.
At this point it is just speculation and a guessing game on current conditions there.
(Have any more units been updated? Is the pool open?)
Thank you to anyone that could share some insight.
It’s always good to share different perspectives. I think the option of reporting EV to RCI based upon no information could lead to owner’s RCI points to be frozen again, even for those who are current with maintenance fees. RCI said they were monitoring the renovations based upon internal agreements they made with EV. It might be better to wait for more concrete evidence to become available. If they are not doing anything, (which we don't know either way as they have not been updating us,) then they should be reported to RCI. Yes, you have a good point about the RCI points getting frozen again. I did not think of that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It’s always good to share different perspectives. Doing additional research on my own I came across this recent (last week?)post from someone who seemed to be residing at EV and began to have issues. The response from EV is also posted.I hope anyone that has recently stayed at EV could post their thoughts and observations.

Not sure I understand the response. Was this from the new owner, John Oakes? This whole situation is a nightmare.Doing additional research on my own I came across this recent (last week?)post from someone who seemed to be residing at EV and began to have issues. The response from EV is also posted.
Also, another question. Its kind of hard to read the above letters, but does the reply say, that the rental does not include utilities? If so, that is absurd. Not sure I understand the response. Was this from the new owner, John Oakes? This whole situation is a nightmare.
