Correct. Think of Hyatt Vacation Club as two separate points systems: Platinum and Portfolio.
  • Portfolio points can be used for resorts in the Portfolio Collection, formerly the Heritage Collection (and I think before that it might have been called Hyatt Residence Club but I'm not sure). Highlands Inn is part of that.
  • This listing is for Platinum Points which can be used directly to book resorts in the Platinum Collection or Experiences Collection. The first post in this thread lists those resorts, and the points charts for them is attached in this post.
Note: You can deposit Platinum Points into interval and apparently you'll have "priority access" to exchange there for Portfolio Collection resorts like the Highlands Inn, according to the Interval points schedule posted by Diego on his recent listing.
As part of the Hyatt Vacation Ownership network, Owners also receive priority access and a reduced exchange fee when completing an exchange to a Hyatt Residence Club resort through Interval International.

Guest Services confirmed Platinum points deposit 1:1 into Interval. They also mentioned Interval gives you 2 years from the deposit date to redeem them. I haven't used Interval but I imagine other TUG members have some useful info to share.

Hyatt Vacation Club (HVC) - Platinum Points, Hyatt Mountain Lodge Beaver Creek, Hyatt Ka'anapali Beach Maui, Hyatt Pinon Pointe, Hyatt Carmel Highlands
I haven't been following Hyatt, but looked at this solely because of my interest in Hyatt Highlands Inn.
From what I'm reading, that resort would not be available using these points?
Now I see the confusion.
That's correct. Your options are:
  • Acquire a deeded week directly at Highlands Inn
  • Acquire a deeded week within the legacy Hyatt Residence Club, which will allow you to use the club-to-club exchange to exchange into Highlands Inn.
  • Acquired Portfolio Points which are a points-based ownership in only eight (8) component resorts of which Highlands Inn is one of them.

FYI to anyone following: This transfer is now pending, but I don't see a way to update the post title unfortunately

Hi, did this transfer go through?

Another question, what program is better for booking Tahoe, either Northstar lodge or One Village Place? Does either portfolio or platinum point have priority? Is it easier to exchange through EEE to Tahoe?
