Ok, call us crazy ... our journey to 1 million HH points via HGV Owner Updates ...

At The District, non-owners can get breakfast downstairs and go to the happy hour run by Embassy Suites. They give you a card for 2 free drinks per person per night at checkin.

When you stay in DC at the Hilton timeshare do you also get the free breakfast and happy hour that comes with embassy suites section? That might make up for the $70 a day parking 🤣
Yes and yes. We took full advantage. Not used to drinking like that. We also got invited to the owners lounge one evening and it was nice. And no parking or car although we burned up our Lyft Ep credits.

Had first three trips. Elara. Boulevard. Lagoon tower. And they have not tried to solicit me for an owners update.

I’m Canadian, resale, ethnic, and with a small child during check in.

Which of those exclude me from the timeshare sales attempt?

I would expect that it's the resale aspect of your ownership. Some of us consider this a badge of honor.

We haven't been asked since we went to Elara and Chicago in 2021. Chicago, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach and Orlando have all not offered a meeting with us since. We also haven't asked to attend one either. I would go if the offer was right but that offer is way out of their price range.

I wear it as a badge of honor as well and we go on our vacations without the constant nagging of update offers. We don't even unplug our phone and use their text service without the constant pressure either. It's really nice.

It’s resale. We went to ocean tower and kings land for 5 years and no tour offers. They stated that they can now offer it to resell owners. Depends on the resort. POP you have to unplug your phone.

Good to know it’s resale. Thought it’d be an interesting experience when I feel like I have time.

Back from CR and Panamá. We did a MVC presentation at Los Sueños for 50k Bonvoy points and the whole lot of free gifts (bags, keychains, cards). Cabo is next. Not sure if we will be PNG or not at HC LaPacifica ... last time the sales guy couldn't believe we turned down his min Max Trust points contract to get MaX. It wasn't worth the paper it was written on post #77. Anyone done an OU there lately? Wondering what they have been offering as an incentive. Last time opening offer was 150k HH points.

? Asking 200k or 250k...
Last time we weren't there that long so we just took the first offer. They said they couldn't offer more, heard that before 🤑, and no feedback on anyone else getting more. Not sure what we will do. I think they would consider us PNG already as it's been almost a year. We are there three nights and then WA for four nights. Flights aren't working out on the return so we may have to extend a day or two. OS is available at La Pacifica, min 2 nights, at a good price. So we may do that and maybe ask for more points knowing we will be coming back. 🤷‍♂️

Go for the Gold!
You have the 150k as backup....
(+ WA points reqts have gone up... Inflation/pt deval.. So, you need more, for your precious time....)

We did preso at LaPacifica 2 years ago for 150k. It was the opening offer and we took it because we were only there 2 nights - the next morning was the only time open on our schedule so we didn't have time to negotiate. I would be curious to see if anyone got more than 150k. I agree that now with WA at 250k we will demand more points for our time because of this devaluation. This also is a devaluation of to 16:1 and 32:1 honors.

We went ahead and booked HC La Pacifica two nights studio plus OS for a total of $365 or $182 per night (Elite Premier discount). This is a fantastic deal considering at Hilton.com it costs 238,000 HH points or $624 per night. To book it with HGVC points we would have had to do three night minimum and regular points with no discount. Maybe they'll let us do the OU twice 😜 :ROFLMAO:

Points240,000
100% bonus240,000
Total points480,000
Subtotal$2,400.00 USD
Buy points

I've got a 7 night stay coming up next week that I used 240,000 points to get a 5th night free + 2 FNC's and the total cash rate (incl tax) has been between $3600 (when I originally booked in 7/25 and $4100 in January. So discounting the cost of the 2 FNC's, I have 7 nights for an out of pocket max of $1,200, but some of those points were acquired on spend.

Are the presentations still 90 minutes, with a walk through of a villa?
We just cannot sit thru a 90 minute presentation fill with lies and untrue promises.

Now that was an outstanding deal.

OU's are 60 minutes. We set a timer right when we walk-in. We usually spend less time than 60 mins once they look into our account. That's 60 mins unless I ask questions and then the DW clobbers my shins under the table. I've learned to not just chat and to ask any specific questions right up front and get them out of the way. In fact, at the District, the rep just straight up asked if we had questions. I had two. He answered them and then sent us on our way. 15 mins for that appointment.
