Ok, call us crazy ... our journey to 1 million HH points via HGV Owner Updates ...

OU @ The District, Washington DC January 2026.

All the folks here very nice and very professional.

Florida based rep called several times before our last trip. Never spoke to them. Left a message back but they didn’t respond.

Last trip we were on redeye flight and they let us check in early about 8 am. Off season and lots of availability. Very cool.

Day after checking in the Concierge offered 100k on our trip two week’s ago. Didn’t accept and asked for 150k. Said we would be back in a couple weeks with DW.

So on this extended trip we were offered 140,000 HH points or $400 visa. We want the points of course and accepted. Our son is with us and they offered for him 70,000 HH to attend our OU. He accepted. That offer was rescinded and they gave him 40,000 HH as a courtesy for the inconvenience.

Just met with the rep. Very nice guy. He had our sheet. He asked if we had any questions. He recognized most of our HGVC was resale. I was sure to point out it was HGVC resale and qualified us for EP. Discussed MF per point.

I asked about owners lounge and open season. And asked if they had any The District deeds. He said they had a Platinum 11,200 for $70k. I asked if they did equity trade. He said based on our resale equity it added up to maybe $50k but wasn’t eligible. We both smiled as he said that would reduce our HGVC points to 11,200 from 60,000. On that note we all laughed and said our thanks and goodbye. 15 mins total. Pleasant experience.

We will be back to DC soon. I’m almost sure they will PNG us, at least here. 🤷 maybe not.

Add 180,000 HH to the tally.

I’m not sure. Call the property and ask for the concierge. They will let you know.

There are no units at The District that are 11,200. A Platinum 1 BR is 11,520 and a Gold 1 BR+ is 10,080.

If you have HGVC ownership and the sales office has slots available, you can ALWAYS tour without an incentive.

We are Bluegreen owners
Hilton in Myrtle Beach would not let us do an update …. That’s why I asked

I'm going to enjoy seeing what your tallies will be for this year. It was fun last year!

Did you end up doing a BG tour? What was your incentive? What were they selling? What did they say about HGV? Any other info?

I’m pretty sure we will be PNG to some extent this year … especially after our record last year. And we have slowed it down for sure. Burnout. This one was too easy to pass up. Plus we are interested in the property so wanted to learn what we could.

@Pennytx … talk to the concierge at any Hilton property as they sometimes offer HGV travel packages (which include a sales tour) to generate sales leads and they usually give 500 bonus points just for talking to them about it. They were doing that here at the Embassy Suites in DC, as well as in Chicago at the Embassy Suites and The Palmer Hilton.

We did the Bluegreen tour. Max incentive was only $100 Visa card. Negotiated for five days. Apparently there is a huge turf war in Myrtle Beach over Bluegreen and Hilton. Essentially they are selling Max…. They tell you point blank Bluegreen at this point is worthless unless you pay $20k to upgrade, wait $10k to upgrade, wait how about you buy this instead…. Same old story, no actual
Information, just “what you have isn’t worth anything and we won’t take it back … but for a small amount of $ we can get you into Max and your life will be soooo much better 🤣

They were offering 16K to upgrade to max in waikoloa today, Studio points 3520 ish at about $1,100 dues. Also offered for 20K a 1 bedroom 7680 for 1400ish. A easy no. They were offering $200 incentive MC but we took the 100,000 HH points.

We were told that HVC is offering essentially unlimited Owners Updates even if we just went on one the day/week before. So my wife and I came up with the crazy idea that we could leverage this into a million HH points in 2025 alone (100k points x 10 updates). So we have set this as a goal even though we thought we were done with sales presentations ... we have always been good at saying NO and getting out of there. And we try to learn or relearn at least one tidbit each time we go. Yes I know it sounds painful but I think we are going for it. And they keep pushing owner updates practically begging us. Any and all comments welcome as we have thick skin. We are just going to have fun with this ... and always reserve the right to change our minds if it becomes too painful.

Owners Update 1: January 2025 - we are at Elara right now and received 100k points and a 3 day two night vacation stay at a Hilton. They did offer 110k HH points if we didn't want the two free nights but we could use the two nights in Scottsdale. All if we attended an Owners Update of 60 minute minimum. We just completed the update and have already logged the HH points. Ended up being 90 minutes as I did have some questions on Embarc. Their bad IT once again shows that they have no clue what we own or how we got Elite status with our minimal purchase at Marbrisa a decade+ ago while depositing our many GPR resorts in as HGVC points for Elite. Their offer was, in general, they could upgrade our deeded EOY Marbrisa Studio to Annual and include Max for $10k. No thanks. Salesperson was nice and personable. The closer offered the usual freeze this offer program of 11,627 HGVC promo points(if I remember correctly) for $1,795 less $100 if we paid in full. After we refused he tacked on another 130k HH points if we did the freeze. We said NO ... as this would ruin our plan to get to 1 million HH points. Anyway this closer guy was a &%$@* or as my wife put it "he was condescending, arrogant, aggressive, offensive and generally unpleasant marketing guy who followed an informative, thoughtful and respectful conversation with our salesperson. I don't think we will file a complaint ... it might ruin our plan. Oh well ... I smiled and thanked them all with LOVE .... Next stop Cabo.
How is your journey going?

JohnnyO, you must have one strong will power, to be able to attend all these TS sales presentation. Good Luck on your journey.

Just finished a presentation. My husband showed the closer that his cost per night so far would be $2,285 if we didn’t shop the sales and stay in studios. He is 73. The guy ushered us out pretty quickly after that. I guess I lost my cool with the opener as she tried to tell us if we didn’t get into trust points our availability will shrink to nothing and we would be stuck with week 39 at Elara. She said the points we use for other resorts are a benefit and benefits can change. She claimed our points would get twice as mich time in the trust. I told her that offended me that they sell me something and act like it’s a fantastic product then tell me it is a bad product later and I have to pay money to get what I thought I had. My husband said I was borderline abusive. The second guy of the three recommended adding 5500 points for $30k then down to $20k and keep our deeds and then we could use all our points in the trust at 7 months out. So much for more availability. He admitted trust maintenance fees are much higher. I don’t think there is any danger of falling for their crazy pitches again. But can I remain polite and friendly?! We may give the million point challenge a try…

Why do ts sales people tell outright lies.
For 20k or 30k how many resales can you purchase?
Totally agree. I don’t get how the same about of points can go from $80k to $40k, to oh yea with this new promo I forgot it’s now $15k but only today.

The saleslady did not really lie when she said points could get twice as much time in the trust. There are often, usually, always? Deep discounts on the former diamond properties that allow you to stretch your time. I've stayed in a 2br at cancun las vegas for 2000 points for one week. Powhatan is almost always 75% off. Without max you cant take advantage of these. Yes, I know there are often discounts on HGVC properties, too, even up to 75% off. The diamond properties go on the cheap a lot.

To the OP..Hilton is still offering discount points to some former Diamond properties that is a good piece of information.

When you stay in DC at the Hilton timeshare do you also get the free breakfast and happy hour that comes with embassy suites section? That might make up for the $70 a day parking 🤣
