Marriott Deed Transfer Timing Update

Once you have the deed in your name are you able to at least establish your interval international account? Or do you have to wait for Marriott to finish processing it first? We are getting ready to purchase a resale week and I’m not thrilled with the idea of waiting 5-6 months to be able to get access to it- seems crazy in this day and age. At least if we could start accessing interval getaways while we are waiting we might feel better about it. Thanks!

One way to possibly work around this is to purchase a week with first use in 2026.

Another alternative is to buy a week and have the current owner make a 2025 reservation for you and have it transferred into your name at time of purchase (put everything in writing)

Enjoy your ownership!

Update.

Marriott acknowledged receipt of recorded deed 4/23 ( sent 4/16)
And notified LTT today 7/18 that transfer was complete.
Buyer called Marriott and was told she should see in her account 7/28.

Or 60 business days.

Not bad.

I was going to ask if it was really 3 months. Sounds like 3 months is about it. I have two in process, both Westin weeks. Not yet sent to Marriott, but just a matter of a few days.

Update: My MGC deed was recorded by LT Transfers on March 29th. I was able to access my MGC week and create an MVC account on July 25th.

118 days total. 81 Business Days. Pretty ridiculous, and way worse than my Wyndham experiences.

I have two purchases in the pipeline now, the first one was recorded in the county on Aug 6th and is in the stream for MVC transfer now. They are still telling me it takes 60 days - we'll see.

My experience last year was that it took up to 60 days for MVC to record on their records. I wonder if they will try to get caught up now - just to avoid the mess these delays will cause with the impending maintenance fee billings.

I just had a sale close - sent to Marriott on June 12th and finalized September 27th.

They probably mean 60 business days.

Not sure why mine took 81 business days. And I used LT transfers, so I'm pretty sure the issue wasn't on our end.

Business days are harder to calculate, in so far as many of us are in different jurisdictions with different holidays at the state vs national level, or Canadians with differences by province.

I assume by business days, we are going by Marriott Transfer Department business days.

In any event, it is roughly three (3) months.

I would fully expect business days to be based on US National Holidays. Many the same as those in Canada with some differences. While some of the actual days may be different, they fall close enough to a US holiday (Victoria Day and Memorial Day for example) that counting days would be about the same.

This is what I use (although you’re correct that it’s based off of US business days / federal holidays): https://www.timeanddate.com/date/workdays.html

June 19 to October 2, 2024
106 calendar days
73 business days (per above calculator, but it was counting June 19th as a holiday, which is a business day for most)

Would have been completed in 70 business days, but Marriot had an issue with the fact that my driver's licence expired the end of August (11 weeks after they received it).

That's almost exactly what mine was. It seems like they are just processing one days worth of requests for each work day. Otherwise, I don't see how they would stay that consistent over several months.

I am waiting for confirmation for our resale purchase into our Marriott account. If the 70-business day theory holds true, I should receive notification by October 18.

I was just notified by LT transfers that my resale week for Playa Andulaza has been transferred. Marriott confirmed it and said it takes 5-7 days to show up online. This was sent over to Marriott on September 9th. I am in the process of purchasing another week to enroll all my weeks and that may have something to do with this transfer going thru so fast. The sales team in Spain checked with the transfer department to verify the sale and I think that’s what expedited it. Not sure.

Following up on a Willow Ridge transfer.
Received by Marriott 7/11.
Closing company contacted them on Friday and they said they were working on deeds received 7/5.
Fingers crossed it will be in my account within 2 weeks.

Not much comfort. Maybe they could have two employees doing these transfers.

Seems resales do not in any way enhance the points system as they are not enrolled weeks (unless done incident to a points sale). So, what's the hurry:). Perhaps the answer is to let enrolled weeks be sold as enrolled weeks so they would increase the slim inventory available for points.

Since that would take money out of their pocket, that seems extraordinarily unlikely.

On the other hand, they could take a page from HGV's book and charge a transfer/activation fee ($474 in 2024), pay more people to do it, and get the transfer done in a few weeks.

I would hate to think MVC's motives would be anything but in favor of improving the slim inventory available for points. MVC is a generous entity, always thinking of ways to improve the owner experience. They do not want us to doubt we can get the better reservations and properties by using our points. Afterall, point purchasers spend lots of money for those points.

See it in my account 10/23 but giving me the option to reserve 2025. There should have been a resie that transferred with the ownership I will give it a few days.

Question regarding transfer of a purchase of a resale-how do you know it is in your Marriott account? Did you receive e-mail notification from Marriott Vacation Club?
