100% resale!!
Did they change the rules about requesting a view if you're resale? I called to have my Ocean Walk reservation be Ocean Front, but the person on the phone said she couldn't submit a request. I asked for a manager and they said that the resorts can't see the notes on the reservation, which is the only thing they can do. This was a person from vacation planning when I called 1800-251-8736.

I had an Ocean Front request honored last year, and a unit upgrade request honored in October, so I don't know if the rules have changed or if the person was incompetent.

I would surmise the latter- Incompetent! Many Ower service reps are just not properly trained and do not know the system as well as they should

I think a VIP can opt-in for a Better View. Why do they even bother having operator-assisted bookings? Such a nightmare. They should make everything available online. I don't see why a resale owner cannot request to be on a waitlist. I assume that's the implication of your request. If a room with a view is vacant why would they not give it to anyone who asks for it?

I hope the rules have indeed changed & this is exactly the way it should be.
How much is it worth to you to reserve a certain unit?
I’ve said repeatedly that a lot of VIP benefits come without a $$ amount attached.

Exactly. All owner requests should be noted and honored if possible. Of course VIP owners should have priority over those of us that only have a few 100K pts.

I am a VIPP and I see where you're coming from. But a resale owner could have booked the room with a view online if it was available. He is only asking to be on a waitlist and stand behind the VIPs. If a room is vacant on the day of check-in, I don't see how Wyndham loses by fiving it anyone who asks for it! They might actually be induced to buy developer points and join the VIP ranks. Just my naive opinion!

It just isn't worth $25,000 to me to be able to request units and get 35% off. If it's that hard to get ocean front at Daytona, I can just get a WM resale contract for $4,000 and their 2 bedroom deluxe units are 100% ocean front. Ocean Walk isn't like the other beach resorts, the view isn't included in the point chart. I should be able to state what view I would prefer. If I want it guaranteed, then I'll pay the $25,000 for VIP Gold.

So, rooms with or without a view or oceanfront cost the same number of points? That's unusual for a beach resort. It was different at Myrtle beach. I will look up their point chart.

Then even VIP cannot be guaranteed. I can only request room numbers on the reservation screen. No place for making any other requests.

A survey request came up yesterday when I logged on. I really filled up the page with my gripes and recommendations. I should have added this one too!:)

Just guessing but I would imagine that over 99% want ocean front.
How does a VIP reserve a unit on a reservation made the day of or day before checkin if all ocean front units have already been given to non VIPs

Are you saying that even on the day of check-in, they should hold the better view rooms just in case a VIP may want to book it? Now, you're not talking about VIPs, you're talking ROYALTY!:D

If I am not mistaken, even inventory reserved for PR is released to 30 days before. They can't realistically hold inventory in the manner you would like, imo.

Yes. That’s a common business practice with timeshares, hotels.
This is a benefit reserved for VIPs only.

You’re also forgetting the resale buyer might have a 14 day reservation. That removes the unit for 14 days not just one night. Many VIPs may be effected not just the day of checkin but for the entire 14 days of the resale owners stay

As I VIPP with the ability to book specific room numbers, I will tell you that most of the resorts are crap at this, with Bonnet Creek and Oceanwalk, and the Fort Lauderdale resorts being some of the worst at this in Wyndham system.

I have put in room numbers at all of these resorts and have they have not been looked at or considered. I have even had Sea Gardens try to put my friends into a room that was a lower point value than what I booked, I had ocean palms building booked (higher points) and they tried to place them in Cabanas, likely the worse section at the resort.

It's in the best interest of any hospitality business to maximize the utilization of their 'perishable' product. It's in the best interest of Wyndham and the TS owners to increase occupancy rates purely from the standpoint of getting the maximum bang out of MF fees and reducing the liability of outstanding points. If you leave rooms (SUPPLY) vacant and increase the liability of outstanding points (DEMAND), you are simply pushing demand into the future creating a demand crunch.
I know there are many variables involved here and there must be some kind of Operations Research model that's utilized in this business. When I was at Hilton IT for a period of time, I remember the demand forecasting team had all kinds of models. It's a tough business when you look at it from their side.

Non-VIP's should have requests honored after 4pm on the day of check-in. Not before. Advance requests are a VIP benefit. VIP's who want upgrades should either make the request with the booking, call the resort with the request, or show up for the early VIP check in time. At 4pm, all reservations are equal.

Basically, what I am saying is there are many stakeholders and many objectives and it's a tough business to manage and make a profit. It's not only about VIPs getting waited on hand and foot!

As an aside, Hilton had a beautiful office building in Beverly Hills. They were bought by Blackstone.
Look up BX, used to be great dividends, now it's good dividends with their stock price going up. They hit a 52-week high today!:whooopie:

So if you use your millions of resale points with VIP benefits would your reasoning also apply?

Nobody but the contract and sales depts know which contracts are resale. Most beach resorts hv room booking point levels as lower ocean view, upper ocean view. Ocean Blvd has different buildings. If you want a better view call the resort directly and speak to someone who handles such things. No Wyndham Vacation counselor can help you. I would rather gouge my eyes out then call Wyndham VC,EBay,VRBO, or Verizon customer service is the worst. I have to sike myself up for days before I call Verizon as I turn into a raving lunatic either before, while or after speaking with customer none service.

If a non VIP rents 6 months out and there is no availability for a VIP a day or 2 before check in I would believe the VIP is SOL and should have booked earlier.

If the rules have changed hopefully the resorts will start honoring ALL VIP unit request.
If Wyndham wants owners to buy up to current VIPG start making benefits real that actually work as intended.
That includes how resale points currently work in a VIPs account. This thread is a prime example of a resell owner that might now find being a VIP is desirable & decides to buy from Wyndham.

I have found out a $20 bill at check in ussually helps get me the room I want. It also helps to get to know the people at check in. I have a great relationship with a few at the resorts I travel to. I always have recieved a room I requested by calling resort direct and speaking to the contacts I know.

Thanks for letting me know that if there’s no availability that a VIP can’t make a reservation.
Who would of guessed that!!! You’re just full of wisdom! lol

VIP is not monolithic. Should VIPP be able to demand better treatment than the 'lower caste' VIPG? ;) Should VIPP requests be honored before that of a VIPG? There's no end to this. A line has to be drawn somewhere!

Braindead's logic is more like Wyndham math. It never adds up. Holding inventory just in case a VIP shows up is absurd.

No. Whether you’re VIPG or VIPP or VIPP-PR the benefit is the same for all.
If Wyndham wants a difference between the VIP levels they could implement it, but today the benefit is the same for VIPG & above
