:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Do you have recent, personal experiences to report about resale conversion(s)?

Maybe we need a "List of Lies on TUG".

There are personal experiences from 4 years ago that contradict. I doubt the situation has improved.

I am not sure what you are implying. The post I responded to said that they were told that they could convert their resale points into VIP with a purchase. I merely stated that could have been true. It depends on where they were buying and what location the sales person was selling. This was a thing at several resorts and still is on some specific cases. When Wyndham bought Shell, all Shell owners were able to "convert" their ownership into Wyndham regardless of how they purchased it. If you owned a SVC Hawaii Kona Coast II and you wanted to bring it into Wyndham the year that they bought Shell, you could do so and it came in as VIP.

In no way is it always the case. I am sure that if someone posts specific cases that still exist today that they would quickly disappear.
I merely stated that did actually happen in certain resorts, which is quite true.

I have a home in a timeshare resort and have heard a lot of lies.
sales staff are often very short term, don’t know the answer, make something up. long term, make something up just for fun

i have had timeshare people in my yard taking firewood or blackberries because the time share salesmen told them lies about the homes in the neighborhood.
i try to rent my timeshare out. Some #&#% salesmen told them that the ones with certain siding were new and remodeled. So I put a generic picture up with the ad and some women gets on and tells an interested person that that is an old one, rent one with a different siding. When I point out that they are identical inside and the same age ,she goes ballistic on me.
if a person who was in the service would be on timeshare tour, the salesmen would tell them that certain houses Belonged to a colonel so and so, likewise for police men, etc.
I could tell lots of stories about other antics. I regret not writing them down over the years. It would be a great tv series.

YOU MUST BUY TO GET INTO T&L. YOURE POINTS WON'T WORK IN THE NEW SYSTEM.
There is no "new system". Travel & Leisure is just the new name of the company. That is all.
YOU MUST BUY TO GET VACASA.
No you do not.

True. You do not need to buy.

I enjoy listening to the lies...... as long as I get a $200 Visa gift card or a pile of points. Get my freebies and leave. As I have 365 days off per year, a couple hours out of my day is nothing.

In general this is not true. Many years ago - and by that I mean 15+ years ago now - Wyndham allowed certain loopholes for resale to developer points conversions when also purchasing additional developer points in the process. I do not believe we have had any reports of success doing this here on TUG since 2018 timeframe when I became a member and timeshare owner. The important reality to point out is that even if this is done surreptitiously by the sales department, subsequent audits will correct these errors eventually - as is clearly evidenced by the owners who post both here and on the FB groups stating that they lost VIP status some years later due to these types of circumstances once their accounts underwent an audit. I’m not going to say it is not possible, but I will provide fair warning that audits may reverse the VIP levels and/or status and correctly label the resale contracts back to their correct status within the system.

The reference to the SVC conversions applying even to resale SVC contracts converting to Wyndham developer points may have had some truth for a limited period of time after the initial purchase of SVC by Wyndham, but I can assure you it was only for a limited time period and is certainly not the case now.

When salespeople have to lie to sell, it's because the product is bad. This product is not "bad" but it's not worth the money people pay, so basically the salespeople believe in the product, but they probably know that it's not worth anywhere near what they are asking people to pay.
